How did the witness know that they were doing 140mph ?

Obviously going fast looking at the damage but 140 is just speculation surely ?

A lot of the damage is from the fire brigade cutting off the roof and probably the doors as well !

Shocking pictures. I'm sure we have all driven our cars at speed on the road & perhaps even in the wet, but once you engage in a race the red mist descends & self control goes out the window. They didn't deserve to die, but the roads are not the place for this sort of behaviour.

Wise words and I'm sure more than a few of the members here drive/have driven in a 'brisk' manner.

I assumed they WOULD be Asian given a) the number of young men per car, b) the value of the cars involved and c) the manner in which they were being driven.

My home town has a goodly Asian population, and, I have to say, a lot of the young men do tend to drive like the above, plus they all seem to be able to run these expensive cars.....

plus they mentioned it in the article, not that that is conclusive or anything of course when it's the Daily Mail (plus lots of white folks drive just as badly).

'The men involved are understood to be from the Bangladeshi or Pakistani community in east London.

The difference is that your yoof kill themselves in Saxos or Corsas.

Our yoof do it in Beema's and Mercs.

We do it in style bro. You get me...

On a serious note Condolenses to the families and another reminder no matter how good the car is, all the fancy electric traction gizmos are not a substitute for bad driving.

They use typically English first names to try to identify with the UK public. They are also told to watch programs such as Coronation Street and Eastenders. Surely you know this or are you being the naive multiculturalist?

I think he knows that, mrmadcap, you're being waaay too literal.

Personally i'd rather deal with a Mohammed than a pretend Dave. I find it highly patronising.

No one can justify driving on public roads at those speeds, wet or dry. If they want to do that then go for a track day, if you can stand the embrrassment of being overtaken safely by superior drivers!
