No doubt all our insurances will go up if this fund happens, also to cover these flood costs.

Can't afford Insurance = sell the house and move somewhere you can afford!

That's not at all like your health in the USA - you CANNOT sell your body and move into another!!!

Get your comparisons right ..... for example:-

A person buys a BMW X5 - but cannot afford to insure it ... they lose it - would you pay for them to get another?? No? Didn't think so!!

I'm sure you would tell them to buy a 'P' reg Micra and Insure it properly? Yes, thought so!

You have it wrong fella, insurance companies are tossers.Ive been insured as a householder for 20 odd years, claim free.Self employed working from home.I got robbed of copper pipe, the thieves drove through my electric gates wrecking them, they stole about 3grands worth of copper, this I could not claim for.I claimed for a repair to the gates,I got about £2500,the repair and upgrade cost me in excess of 10grand.After this 1 claim I could not get insured for 2 years by anyone, even the insurance ombudsman failed to get me insurance. Its not always a choice.

Pleeeeeeeze when will every numpty stop looking around for someone else to pick up the pieces because of their bad choices!!!

It's about time we stood for our decisions, good or bad!

In my book if someone's took you're money and thankyou for you're custom blah blah , you take that as a done transaction ?
I don't renew my car insurance a month before
Why should my home be any different ?
If they couldn't commence with cover they shouldn't have took the money ?

So what happens when this 'fund' comes to an end - which I believe is being mooted?

Those people who have been flooded before wont be able to get insurance.
You saying they should all move house?

How?
With no one to buy their old one?

Sorry Lewis, but on this one you really are being a vacuous little turd.

So you're saying everyone who lives near a river , or coastal area or an area that flooded two decades ago should consider moving ?

And why you moanin about paying out of you're pocket for flood victims

What about numpty drivers that you're paying extra for ( each time they make a claim) ?

Why pay for nhs patients ( f**k em , they should have insurance and go private)

You've payed plenty for the benefit of others ,

And others for the benefit of you ?

How about throwing the councillors that granted plannning permission to build houses on flood planes into the bottom of a well? Too much much went on during the new labia period with councils trying to achive their housing quotas that common sense was simply ignored.

Any houses built in the past 15 years thats on a flood plane or prone to flooding is pretty much uninsurable. So the councilors, planners and builders responsible should be held criminally liable IMO.

Why would anybody (apart from the council) buy a house built on a flood plain?

Because they're cheap and people hope the floods won't come, or be as devastating as they fear

It's a choice thing ... would rather go to the dogs or Bingo - *** in hand and then a pint and tattoo afterwards!!!
Well I heard a man say that his insurers would no longer cover his home, I think that was after a previous claim.

Some people just cannot afford the premiums because they just don't have enough money and the premiums are very high.

Nothing wrong with using your disposable income to get some enjoyment out of life as best you can, even if you cannot afford the insurance.

The selling agents and the surveyors appointed by the builders would easily gloss over that issue. I don't think anyone would knowingly buy a house thats prone to flooding, unless it was mega cheap.
