Cheers. There are one or two things I want to sort out on it (including a tiny crease dent on the passenger front sill that appeared this year somehow), but it is pretty damn good for its age. No rust on the rear arches either which is interesting. Still only on 55K too

mate its a cracking colour, gutted they never continued it on in the newer cars. it happens mate just inconsiderate people who don't thing nor care about other peoples property. if I ever go for the house idea my 330s will have to go but will be replaced with a clean classic so if you ever fancy letting it go you may here from me

Looks a nice car that one. The only thing is I just don't think classic Imprezas suit a leather interior, don't know why.... just my opinion of course!

I do toy with letting it go sometimes as I have 3 cars LOL! My head says get rid as it doesn't get used enough, but having owned Scoobs since 1996 my heart says No I did use it a lot more last summer and will do the same again next year

I think i did well finding mine, a 1997 UK Classic, and in amazing condition for her age. The only problems: i bought her with was a slippy clutch (replaced with a Stage 1 racing Excedy one - paid for and helped replace courtesy of previous owner), and small 2cm approx area of rust on the passenger side rear wheel arch.
I paid £1500 (and was very lucky and probably a bit stupid, as was a drunken buy in the pub one night!).
Full service history, under 80k on the clock, Immaculate original leather interior. The previous owner is a fellow local Scooby lover and RAC mechanic so is always on hand for help and advice, if ever needed too!

Best drunken decision ever! ;D

Sold mine a while back for £3500 60k on clock, FSH with Subaru until I got it then Powerstation took over looking after it and storing it when I was away with work.

Car had stage 1 stuff on it and really wanted for nothing. All went wrong when I sold it though as it really did get nothing for a long time. Another classic ruined in my views but it helped pay for my litchfield car so needs must an all that.

They are out there though as above posts have proved but they are in a sea of crap so may take a while to find one.

Happy new year to classic owners for another year
and there will be even less classics on the road as the undesirables continue to ruin them instead of preserving them with the last ones registered in 2001 and the first ones through to uk in 1993 they are getting rare

Hopefully we can continue this thread with pictures of the classics that's unmolested

Last year there was only 70/80 classics at NBO 10 out of 380 cars so it is a good indication of how many classics was left in the uk and out on the road

It will be interesting to see how many venture out for NBO 11 on Sunday 30 June 2013 at Lightwater Valley

As the NBO develops into its second decade it will be interesting to see the classics are displayed in the Arena
I predict there will be less performance mods on classics but more under bonnet shiney bits and colours ,like what Locky is busy with at the moment and detailing will be massive

lots more Money spent on quality polishes and waxes and anti rust products like the excellent bilt hamer range as people look to preserve them and keep out the dreaded rust which is still a word not used on scoobynet much
I'm also looking to see the first really big restoration thread on scoobynet showing lots of photos of a cars arches being cut away and metal added ,filled and resprayed
Interesed to see more accurate prices posted if renovations as prices seem to vary from £300 -£2000 and also DIY people attempting these jobs themselves

OMG LOL!

To be fair it is the iconic Impreza shape. The bug, blob and hawk may be better cars in many ways, but they don't have that iconic look. As for the hatch I don't even consider it part of the family. The Impreza died in 2007 for me!

Keep wondering whether it's worth spending money on keeping the rust at bay on my classic. Arches are going and I refuse to pay a grand to get them sorted! Never mind tidying up the rest of the bodywork. Is it worth it on a car worth £1500 maybe?

Andy, take the rear bumper and skirts off the sides. Put the car on a ramp and have a look at the underside, the sills etc. Take a view. If the only place you have any rust is the rear arches then it's worth it and it won't cost you a grand. Someone must know a good bodyshop nearish to you who can either use some front arches or just some steel plate to fix them up properly. You do need someone who knows what they are doing. Don't be tempted to just have them rubbed back and filled as the rust will come back. It needs cutting out. I reckon £400 - £500 should be about the right price.

Well back in July/August when my mate MOT'd it, it failed on corrosion around the front suspension. Nothing major but within 300mm of a suspension part. Another mate welded me some plate in and sealed it up nicely. But when at Scoobyclinic getting the leaky fuel filler pipe replaced it was said there is rust inside the arches.

Someone on here said it was a grand to do the rear arches properly, maybe Lord Harding, not 100%. Can't really justify that myself on top of general maintenance and servicing. Kinda got priorities with having a young family as you can imagine, so wondering whether to keep it another year and scrap it?

Well agree if it's got corrosion eleswhere. Spend the year looking for a corrosion free example and transfer any good bits from yours. Don't forget you will get some money back by selling bits off yours and it is a buyer's market right now especially for wagons.

The £400 - £500 is based on my mate's estimate. He has a bodyshop and is doing the arches on his 1997 Impreza over Christmas. I will ask him again later in the week, but he was pretty sure the job could be done properly for that money.

I don't get to use it tbh and only covered 2k mileage last year and its only getting used if the weather permits otherwise it just sits in the garage, I need to replace it with something that I won't be afraid to use all year round lol.


I also fancy a change after 10+ yrs Subaru ownership.

Yeah I was the same, but used it a lot more last year and will do so again next spring/summer. Think you can get lulled into a sense that they are almost too good to take out.

Anyone hazard a guess at a value on a 2001 Y reg classic, wagon, Mica Red, 61k, no rust at all and only paint it's had is on the front bumper! All the panels are original paint.

I got my s plate wagon with one owner from new fdsh and receipts for everything including original sale!

Body was tatty and interior needed good hoover and a set of tyres but engine was spot on

I handed over 1200 quid and it was mine

I paid 3800 for my first one in 2006 hadit 2 years kept it mint and few mods sold it gir 3950

Paid £2600 for mine 3years ago. Standard except exhaust.



It needs some tidying up now, due to people opening doors into it, getting scratched, chipping paint off the bumper etc but it's not rusty.
