So am I right in thinking that if I got this

http://www.enduringsolutions.com/

It can then be mapped by anyone, or are only certain guys about to map it. I had a 03 plate before and was simple just went to Bob Rawle and he mapped it.

No.

You have an OBD port below the steering column, a mapper will plug in there and away you go. The VF28 is a good all round turbo and responds well to a good map, you will need a few supporting mod's to help it though.

A good uprated panel filter, uprate the fuel pump and probably a three port solenoid.

It's not a limited edition either, I have a MY99 STi the same as that one, first registered as a Grey Import on 1st march 1999.

Have a look in my garage or here.

Cheers for the info.

So what companies should I be looking at for a Map?

Bob Rawle, Jolly Green Monster or any of the Open Source crowd now throwing themselves forward.

After I renewed the pipe work and hoses on mine it felt like a new car, it was much better too .

I suggest you buy the car you like and then decide if you want it mapped.

Stock classic STI's are seriously quick out of the box.
If you are buying to mod, then buy one with the mods you want already fitted.
