£40/pw? How did they work that one out? It should be £20 for one child!

Qwerty it sounds a very well written letter, if you didn't mind I would like to send a copy of the letter to my mp as well as I don't think it's possible to put it any better than you have above. Have you thought of sending to No 10 as well?
My letter is pretty much what I've written above. Also my local MP is David Davis, so I've no doubt that my letter will reach his good friend David Cameron, since they love each other so much. I've said he's welcome to raise it in PMQT, since there is no defence to what they are doing that I can see, but there is plenty of ammunition to make the PM and Chancellor uncomfortable.

I've seen Labour complaining about it saying the Tories are out of touch, but I've yet to see anything to suggest they would reverse the decision, or at least implement it in a fair manner, which is all I’m asking for. We’ll certainly miss the £100 a month we get, which feeds and clothes the kids, but the execution of these cuts is very wrong.

Qwerty. Good concise explanation, that's going to my MP if you don't mind too.

Qwerty, nicked the bones of your letter and have sent one along the same lines, perhaps saying Sharon or even Ozzy Osborne would do a better job was harsh but hey ho, only joking, kept it professional, if nothing else I can feel like I had a go.

I said that doing it this was because the calculation is too hard to do it on combined income is not good enough and that I will not be able to use that defense if I get the tax return wrong that I have to now fill out every year.

I said I can support it but only if next door on their joint 60k aren't better off by 8 grand a year than me, I also mentioned it is now viable for me to go to four days a week at work and I wont be much worse off as I would keep the CB being less than 50k but that would be a very cynical move and I don't lower myself to such tricks, unlike his government. I then said, it is simple, change it or that's another 2 votes lost next time round.

Think some of those figures will be going into our email to our MP too.

Another avenue of thought which is appearing in some forums is that the child benefit in our case is paid to my wife. I'm under no obligation to tell her how much I earn.....
