Eventually a 4.7 V8 manual came up in the right colour and spec, so off to Wales it was. Having asked for lots of pics before we went I had a rough idea, but you still never know what to expect. Early on I’d set my mind on an approved car from a main dealer, I didn’t want this turning into a nightmare experience. On seeing the car there were a few issues, notably the front bumper had a few bumps and scrapes, but the sales guy did a great job of reassuring me that they would all be put right to a high standard.

A deal was struck and we returned a week later to collect the car. My fears of a dodgy bumper re-spray were unfounded, the car was impeccably presented with a very nice handover by the dealer.

To say I’m chuffed would be a massive understatement, so if you see a guy in a Vantage waving at you in your Scooby it might be me

Not sure I agree with the comment about it being preferred over the 'Lambos' and 'Fezzas' but this wins hands down over something like a Porsche 911. Beautiful and classy.

Thanks, 911 was my target car for some years, I was dead set on a 993 and still have a hankering after one.

The only problem with owning an XKR is knowing that it isnt quite an Aston Martin. A bit like a Boxster, its brilliant but many think you only have one because you cant afford a 911.

Looks like the WRX might being going to a new home tomorrow, I still have not quite made my mind up that it really is up for sale!

I need another family taxi and the Scooby just is not cutting being a cab!

Quick question - There was 2 igintion keys was'nt there?, I think my 'magpie' of a 3 year old may have been in the study and taken them!

Hi Roger, good to hear from you, yes I finally did make my dream a reality

Yes definitely two keys. Good luck with the sale of the WRX if you go ahead, whoever buys it will be getting a good car.

Cheers.

Hi SJ, was it manual or sportshift? they really are good to drive aren't they did you happen to notice the chassis stiffness, makes it feel so solid.

Not had any big bills yet as it's still under warranty, although I do have to make up my mind about extending it later on in the year. I've had a couple of cosmetic parts replaced under warranty without quibble and with excellent service.

At this stage I'm probably going to extend the warranty, although there's a company called Bamford Rose which offer some very tasty upgrades.

I've modified the exhaust valve switching so that it can be remote operated, god this thing on full chat is the devil's own work

Got some nice events lined up this year as it's AM's centenary year.

Can’t believe it’s already been over year, so thought a few pics were in order. Nothing to report on the running side of things, it’s been totally trouble free, all bar a few cosmetic issues corrected under warranty. It’s even averaging 23mpg at the moment, which is better than expected.

Managed to get to a few events, the most interesting being tours around the Gaydon factory where the Vantage is made, and the old Newport Pagnell site which is now their Works Service centre. The old factory is long gone but they do have a very nice restoration facility which turns out some beautiful work. Lots of the interior templates have been kept so new panels can be produced for all the old DB era cars. They even have one of the original DB5 front ends bucks, from this an original spec front end can be reproduced in hand formed aluminium, nice to see that the old skills were still living on in this day and age of machine produced parts.

That's the dealership showroom Matt, I would love a garage like that.

It's going very well, although I've only done about 4K in the last year. It's not without it's little quirks but somehow they don't distract at all, I'm just loving it

Been following your thread on the 135i, really like the look of these.
