Made in England

Well having owned Scoobs for last 10 years, I sold my WRX PPP last year to focus on achieving my dream car. Once in a position to start seriously looking, I eagerly checked the approved used site every day, but having a particular spec in mind had to wait a long time for the right car.

Eventually a 4.7 V8 manual came up in the right colour and spec, so off to Wales it was. Having asked for lots of pics before we went I had a rough idea, but you still never know what to expect. Early on I’d set my mind on an approved car from a main dealer, I didn’t want this turning into a nightmare experience. On seeing the car there were a few issues, notably the front bumper had a few bumps and scrapes, but the sales guy did a great job of reassuring me that they would all be put right to a high standard.

A deal was struck and we returned a week later to collect the car. My fears of a dodgy bumper re-spray were unfounded, the car was impeccably presented with a very nice handover by the dealer.

To say I’m chuffed would be a massive understatement, so if you see a guy in a Vantage waving at you in your Scooby it might be me :D

Stunning! A beautiful motor to own, well done on achieving your dream car.:thumb:

When I saw 'made in England' I thought it was going to be some cr8ppy Ford car:lol1:

Lovely motor Allan, I'm pretty sure that's the first AM I've seen on Scoobynet.

You just can't argue with a car that looks that gorgeous and has that cool image.

And you got it just in time for the release of the new James Bond film:thumb:

dpb 26 October 2012 09:28 AM

Looks nice, not sure about the wheels,

It's only 40% ford is it not.

ScoobyJawa 26 October 2012 09:39 AM

Thats lovely, and totally agree thats also my dream car, or a DB9. You can keep your fezzas and lambos.

Enjoy :D

Allan 26 October 2012 12:51 PM

Thanks for the kind words chaps, much appreciated.

Wheels are part of the optional sport pack which was on my list of must haves, includes different dampers and the 10 spoke diamond turned wheels. I'm told they are very light.

Don't know the Ford content, but wouldn't be bothered if it was 100% :thumb:

Stratstone on North Road?
They have some top cars in there. Spend time dribbling when I drive past most days. They use the road only the back of my place to give the exhaust a clear :norty:.

Fleetster 26 October 2012 01:09 PM

Jeez! that is jawdropping!

Fantom 26 October 2012 01:23 PM

You'll soon be back in an old scoob.... (jokes)

Looks nice, congrats.

Is it pearl colour? Looks blue in the 1st pics, but silver in the last.

Indeed, they have a very nice test circuit as well, all closed roads of course.

Both my Scoobs have been fairly standard, so an increase of 160bhp over the WRX PPP is fairly obvious, just feels quicker, more urgent and effortless at any speed. Cruising it’s more refined than the WRX, but take it past 4.5K and the flaps in the exhaust open up, you then get a noise to die for :) If you remove fuse 22, flaps are open all the time :)

Handling wise was the biggest surprise, if feels just as surefooted without the benefit of 4WD, I’m not planning on switching off the DSC anytime soon. Ride is superb, somehow stiffer than my WRX but seemingly more compliant at the same time, it doesn’t crash over bumps or feel at all harsh. You are well insulated from road noise. Its early days but at the moment it feels perfect, you know you’re driving something well sorted but without the compromises.

Thanks James, it's called Lightning Silver which is actually a standard DBS colour but available as a special order on the Vantage. It has got a hint of Lilac/Blue in it.

I'll get some more pics up at some point.

Never say never on another Scoob, I loved both of mine there’s something special about that burble.

hodgy0_2 26 October 2012 08:23 PM

well done, always fantastic when someone acts on their dreams

I quite like the look of that garage too btw

I know the dealership, it's about 5 mins from the faculty block where I study. Superb car, Allan. Congratulations! :thumb:
