If you read the report in my link it tells you that the archaeologists have gone, no mention of David Cundall going.

"a local businessman involved in the project, Htoo Htoo Zaw, on Saturday vowed to continue the planned digs in the northern city of Myitkyina and Yangon airport, signalling a split within the team.

"We haven't started any digging yet. So how can we say for sure whether there are Spitfires or not?" he told AFP.

It was unclear to what extent the excavations would continue and project leader David Cundall -- a farmer and aircraft enthusiast who has spent around 17 years chasing the Spitfires -- was not immediately reachable for comment."

If they hadn't gone there, where had these planes been sent?

Default The search still going ahead!

Good news, David Cundall is still there, saying he hasn't dug for any Spitfires yet, just some near surface digs.
They have some new technology that can distiguish shapes of buried objects.

Fingers crossed.

After being treated for high blood pressure, David Cundall was yesterday preparing to board a plane to travel 900 miles to the civil-war-torn city of Myitkina in the north of Burma, where he plans to begin another dig.

You have to admire this man's determination.

Isn't that one of those scale Spit replica things? Just looks wrong, especially the canopy and the bulkhead behind the pilot.

Why go to the bother of building a 90% replica? You may as well build a full size one!

It appears that the next stage of searching will continue in the dryer season at the start of 2014.

not sure why though

(although we are about 25 odd miles from Duxford)

Iron maiden arranged for one to do a low level fly by before their gig at Donnington. It was a stunning way to start a show!

I defy anyone to not get goosebumps when you hear one of those go overhead!

An amazing human being who I'm privileged to have screamed along too like a loon at several Iron Maiden concerts.

+1

Wargaming soon evaporated when they realised there was no instant money to be made, glory hunters. Now making money doing commercial lectures on how their mission failed.
