I know all about the windows having to be shut, it's a bitch if it's hot.

Don't think I have any pictures, or if anyone has taken any, of my car when it's been launched.

Well get out there and get some

Yeah it was very warm in the car on that day, at dakota they are starting to allow the proper race cars with cages etc to have them open a couple of inches which helps alot

My car is retired and has been for some time now.

Gotta leave Matt something to aim for. An 8 year old time with less power than he runs and probably about the same weight car.

I know, I have the blower on full heat too whilst queuing to help remove heat from the engine bay.

Been there, done that. It's at the limit of what I think it'll ever do, unless ££££'s was spent on it.

Remember, my car has never been remapped. 380cc injectors FTW.

I need to finish my own first!

Repair the rusty sills,
New gearbox
5x114 r180 conversion
ABW arches
New Exhaust

And somehow figure out how to fit a baby seat into it!

No I questioned why you wanted to cool the oil from turning the ignition off for 25mins, I made it clear power losses though the cool oil would be worse than from heatsoak.

Fans on engine running, less friction looses in the oil and less heatsoak from hot air/water.

You'd benefit from shorter queues Jay. it keeps the diff, gearbox and engine oils at peak efficiency.

Thanks Martyn and BPR.

I didn't want to get too close to your time Martyn as I didn't want to embarrass you obviously......

It's a work in progress but making good steps forward every time we go out now. Suspension settings to tweak etc and we should be there, and that was with a full tank of fuel so will try running with less next time

Thanks mate. It is absolutely brutal to drive, I honestly could not even begin to explain how something like this feels.

Scare myself absolutely senseless in it every time I go out in it lol. And I'm not even pushing it yet 😕 I can cheat and put a bit more boost in and some meth but I don't think I need it for a 10.

Just need to get my launch nailed and save some weight with a bit less fuel

Was my plan this year, but now I have a standard bottom end in there due to my forged build going bang then I'm going to have to take things easy
Aiming for another forged build in the future but need to save some serious cash.

Yeah, is the standard bottom end in there and running now? Just hope it lasts for you mate.

A proper forged build is big money, especially when you start encountering problems like broken cams etc!

I worry about breaking mine everytime I go out lol

Cheers mate.
Just finished cleaning a lapping the heads, starting to build it back up now in between work and our lass giving me stupid fecking house jobs to do lol
Shouldn't take me too long now tho.

A good forged build is going to be expensive but possibly/hopefully my rods and crank are good to reuse so might bring the costs down a bit.

Pretty much, piston no.4 failure around the skirt, piston no.2 has fracture lines in the same place so was also about to let go,not taken the others out but would'nt like to use them again.
I will have to send the rods&crank away to be checked but I might be lucky?

The reason that happens is that the gudgeon pin flexes.

Rods are scrap I am afraid as it can oval the little end and it's just not worth the risk on a nice new set of pistons

Wishful thinking on my behalf I guess
Looks like a fresh start for me then.
