Yeah a brilliant time, although not my best. That is yet to come..

Oh well, new coilovers should be here soon and my 5x114 conversion might be moved up a bit...

These arrived with the post this morning....

Can't wait to get them fitted and see how they feel, should be a good improvement with the external reservoir...

Although I have come pletely mullered my hub and shaft on the front passenger side. The shaft snapped clean off and the splines have twisted in the hub making it impossible to remove. We tried heat, sledge hammer, penetrating oil etc!

So now I'm looking at doing my 5x114 conversion. Does anyone have any cheap 17" 5x114 wheels?

So slow progress on the car so far.

Not going so well at aLl

My ramp bottom bearing exploded so was trying to work off my trolley jack and let alone the mess in the workshop. I can't even get it in the door at the moment.

So I spent the day tidying up and painting the floor. Ramp will be repaired next week so I will be able to get the scoob up and do my shafts etc

Two Newage 5x100 hubs ordered from Scott at scooby spares which should land with me tomorrow.

Means I can get the old rusted nasty broken front hubs off now.

Ramp is due for completion this week which will be nice to be able to get back into the workshop!

May even do a bit on my starlet...

Hubs arrived from scooby spares today. Look in good nick and really good guys to deal with.

Still waiting for the ramp to be fixed which is annoying

So today I got her repaired and moving again, changed the broken driveshaft and the hub for Newage heavy duty units.

Fairly straight forward swap even off a Jack!

http://griptyresoftener.com/

Ordered this for my slicks on the next drag racing days.

Never ran with slicks before but at the new venue a car has never done a 10 second pass before.

I am so close to my 10 I am going to go all out for this one to set the new course record...

I had EXE-TC suspension on my hawk spec c. Awesome suspension, you will like them very much.

Didn't know they were available for the classic Impreza though!

He's alive! Thought you had thrown the towel in!

They don't make them for classics anymore! Haven't for a very long time so to find a "new" set was very lucky. They have only done 1500 miles.

lol, I'm still here. Just waiting for the word that the car is ready!

If by some strange turn of events you end up removing that suspension from your car. I will be more than happy to take the EXE-TC's off your hands!

It's not on yet. Had a slight issue with one of them with a slight mist of oil. So I am currently stood in exe tc watching them rebuild it.

Absolutely brilliant customer service, I've turned up unannounced, they have dynoed my set, found the problem and fixed it all while I stood here having a chat and watching them. Answering all my stupid questions at the same time.

I'm really impressed and would recommend them to anyone

So recently I picked up some Exe TC fast road external reservoir coilovers.

I wanted to make sure that everything was good so I dropped by EXE-TC's head quarters in Exeter. I dropped in and had a chat with Joe who had a look over them and wanted to investigate one of them

So he invited me in to see what they do. He put it on a dyno that simulates all kinds of road surfaces, camber changes etc and logged the fault to a worn seal on the piston.

After discussing the options we decided to do a strip down and rebuild. I was expecting a week or so but they pushed on and stripped it before I even got back from the loo!

3 hours later and I have a fully rebuilt shock and got a tour round the workshop and got to watch them do it.

I have to say it was absolutely amazing to see and talk to the guys, they all have such a passion for the work and pushing the boundaries. They did a top job and I won't be using any other suspension on any of my cars!

A friend of mine. These are the only new set in the world lol. They stopped making these in 2008 so to find a new set is very lucky.

These are so much better quality than the bcs etc

Suspension is all set up.

I'm really torn between my thoughts on this set up.

Fast road and general day to day ito is beyond anything I ever expected. Feels better than any other coilovers I have used.

However it feels a bit "boaty" when pushing on. Lots of body roll and mid corner understeer when applying the power.

I tried them on (out of 40) 16, 25, 32 and 40 clicks. Even on 32 they are softer than the teins I had on before.

Maybe a thicker rear arb?

Set up to 1.5deg neg front camber
Max caster
0 toe front

1 deg neg camber rear and 0.25 toe in on the rear

Irs a tough one. I may consider it in the winter though if I can't get on with them.....

It's going to take a lot of tweaking to get a set up I like I think. I am so used to the car been "wrong" with crashy hard leaking teins and lots of over steer at every opportunity I've just got used to it.

So maybe it's me that's the problem!
