Help people to help you, mate.

What year car, and where in the country are you?

For a 2.35l, you need to start with an EJ22 block, which are about £1100 ish, then you'll need internals and externals, etc. Or de-stroke an EJ25.

Then you'll need brakes, suspension, gearbox etc etc, working on the provision that you have standard stuff still fitted.

Can't comment on Simon's work as I've never used him, I do know from word of mouth that he's a decent person and a good mapper. Also, he should be able to advise somewhere local to you for an engine build.

just realised someone offered me a 2.5 bottom end the other day head gasket went and bottom end knocked slightly so good for a rebuild

would classic heads fit on this?

or am i better off sticking with the 2.0 bottom end?

iv heard bad things about 2.5 engines tbf

Heads and manifolds will fit, yes.

2.5's can be made stronger, either pinned or close decked.

I think pretty much all 2.5's are SCDB, but they still pop headgaskets at higher boost unless you uprate the head studs (14mm ideally) and, if you're going for >500bhp-ish, pinning the liners or, better, doing a CDB conversion.

500 brake realistically is a long way to go

I want a decent strong engine that can handle a bit of abuse on the track and road

500 brake is way off as i have no intention of spending a grand on a turbo at thos stage

Its easy getting power...its supporting it that costs money to

Gear box shafts clutch etc etc

Id rather have a good turning and stopping car with a bit less power than have loads of power and not handle it

Im happy with 320 brake

Prob one of the quicker cars iv had

Id be happy with prob 350 to 400 and i think thats quite achievable

Decent engine first though to build on is wanted

2.0l CDB, with a 2.1l stroker kit fitted, unsure of current pricing, Scoobyclinic do them so sort of local to you. 18/20g turbo will put you in the ball park that you're thinking of power wise.
