I flipped over to R2 to see what that was like - Jesus! its like god's waiting room on there - I listened as they were going on about Grandpa and Gran, Ethel & Doris (I seriously **** you not) and then played Jackie Wilson!! (from 1967!!! I wasn't even born!)
Mother of God if R1 don't want listeners above 18 (which by interviewing Justin Beiber and One Direction this week) seems to be what they want, and R2 caters for Coffin Dodgers who are just waiting to shuffle off this mortal coil , then BBC radio have a seriously massive hole to fill in their listener gap.
I'm considering writing to the BBC to point this out! no kidding!

From the first time I ever saw his grinning mush on E4/C4/More4 or wherever, I've wanted to punch him 'til my arm ached and knuckles bled, and then start kicking. Haven't listened to R1 in years, I'm too old. R2 FTW, but that has some turgid drivel too.

Used to listen to Virgin in the 90's, but it was like listening to one blokes very limited CD collection. Back then it was Seal (Kiss From a Rose), Eagles (Hotel Calif), Annie Lennox, Bon Jovi, Sting and about 6 others repeated every 2 hours. Didn't know it had morphed into Absolute Radio, I listen to that at work online every weekend.

R2 in the mornings and then Absolute (usually 80's) in the afternoon.
Jezza Vine and Steve Wright are absolute $hite.
I stopped listening to R1 when DLT left....

I tried again today - it was slightly better, but still a gazillion miles from Chris Moyles entertainment.

I tried a local radio station while R1 played those Mumford numpties and it was definitely not an option.
BBC should rethink their decision on R1 breakfast show I'd say.

I've got DAB in the car although its always dropping signal.
Another R1 host i can't stand is Jo "monotone" Wiley, bores me to death.
Britain is lacking a good radio station with good host throughout the day.
**** Here's one for you... If you could have a "fantasy" radio station with 4 presenters, who would they be?
Mine would be:
1. Jimmy Carr
2. Arnold Swarzenegger
3. Snoop Dogg
4. Prince Phillip
That would make for cracking radio

It was crap again today - The drivel & stalling over 'The big One Direction News!' was uber painful - I had to physically hold myself back from punching the radio out of the dashboard...... flicked over to R2 for about 3mins - It was all I could take. Radio Off.
Got to work in bad mood - BBC's fault...grrrr

Someone quoted on here earlier something about maybe grimmey is trying too hard.
Lol, what with a feature called wheel of four tunes played today with a choice of only three tunes I'd say he can't be trying particularly hard.
I might stick with it though just to p!ss the R1 execs off as I'm non target 37 year old.
I used to lol at the radio when Chris was on, I know he wasn't everyones cup of cha but I haven't laughed once this week yet, and jump straight out the van to get on with my work when before I would sometimes wait and listen to what was going on.
Edit: couldn't agree more craigybaby
