9/12 Apple Day
Well they must be updating pretty quickly, I ask Siri for directions to Stratford-upon-Avon and it gets it right.
I remember starting a thread on here about Google Earth, next to no one said it was great, 99% of posts were "I can't see my house, it's ****"

Very true, just a shame for me as I wish they'd find something else to moan about, I'm a Map and Nav addict and love the direction Apple are taking, brave but absolutely correct.
can't say I've been impressed with Maps.....yet. Again, I can see where they're going with it, and with some development, it could be very interesting.
All in all, iOS6 is ok. The sad thing is that the expectation is always going to be greater than the actual real thing. But that isn't just related to Apple products - it applies to all releases that have a history of raising the eyebrow of interest.

Like I said, iOS6 is great. Except for maps. Which are horrendous.
In other new, a firend of mine has been playing with a 5 (mine should be here tomorrow!) He said the screen is simply unbeleivably good and the finish on the actual device is amazing.

Brilliant. When it works the 3D is great. (Although you might want to do a comparison shot of the same location - Sort of meaningless otherwise)
Now try searching for an little known out of the way village.
Let's say "Doncaster"
Go on, I ****ing dare you to post up a screen shot of the result.

Anyone with just an iPhone 4, don't update expecting to 'enjoy' the new 3D maps, you don't get them.
I'm staying with iOS5 as iOS6 doesn't have anything 'killer' that convinces me to update.

Maybe because you keep going on about how brilliant it is? If you talk about how great they are, and how much of an improvement the Apple version is over what was there before, don't be surprised when people post their findings when it's shown not to be the case...

As you zoom around the road names appear. Anyhow, they're not as bad as human nature would have you believe.
And this is what can be annoying. I love the new Navigation, feels like a gift, 3D maps are plain incredible, Siri integration and integration with the operating system as a whole is spectacular. But, you don't see dog poop in your neighbours garden any more and Apple are ****.

Agreed, the stretchy thing rocks, kept me entertained for hours (probably explains a lot). The mrs wasn't quite so impressed.

As I showed previsouly, the level of detail for areas outside London is ridiculous. I mean it just a mess. Forget dog poop, you can't see whole towns!!!!!. The maps are inaccurate, places are marked that don't exist and some are completely in the wrong place and some aren't there at all.
iOS is great. Siri is great , much better than it was. iPhone 5 is going to be amazing. But Apple maps are shockingly bad. I guarantee Apple will be making a statement about it in the coming weeks.

Maybe they will, but what other than 'crack on' do you honestly think they will do, suddenly materialise a load of points of interest and satellite imagery, have patience, it will come.
They shoudl have stuck with Google for another 12 months.
You seem to keep forgetting that Google Maps are still available.
And when you say Dysfunctional load of tripe, you of course mean your house isn't included in the Satellite imagery. That's awful for you, I'm sure it can't be easy, Paco from the Spanish village where I live will however be chuffed as his house is now included and the mountain is in 3d.
