Not really, IOS is very restrictive, as are the devices that use it, Apple gives you a "user experience" and you cannot take that from them, it is good BUT... it can be too restrictive, if you Jailbreak your device then you have invalidated your warranty (why?!) yet you can totally customise your android device (here is where Tasker comes in), and it can be total fun
Android is also much more user friendly when upgrading between versions, its quicker to do than IOS, MUCH less painful, you have all your contacts etc still there as long as you dont disconnect it, so it can be down to preference but the best hardware out there at the moment isnt Apple's and we doubt it will be with the release of the "new" iphone either (and IOS 6).

Right, Googled it and not really life changing for me!
So, the smart phone list of important things that a phone should do is as follows:
Make phone calls,
Txt,
Email,
Internet.
What else is actually important?

That should do you but also look at processor speed and operating system, lots of new win8 OS phones coming onto the market.
Go to the shop and try them all and read the reviews also

Airplay and Airplay mirroring can place one display on the screen of another. But that's just a part of what it enables. It's great when sending something from your iPad or iPhone enhances the experience, the iPhone screen becoming the game pad or iPlayer becoming a remote control.
If you want to Jailbreak an iPhone go ahead, it's a rocky road that might have you loose your hair, but it won't affect your warranty. The good news is that with the iPhone the target stays still for a good while. Rooting an Android device is a pain in the butt, and who knows what you're putting on there when doing it. All so you can have a screensaver.

The wife has a 4s and i'm struggling to see what it does any faster that my mates experia arc android thingy so i'm a little lost with how important processor speed is. In the world of pc's i can understand why processor speed is important with programmes like Photoshop but with a phone?

Its exactly the same as a pc Brun, processor speed/cores improve boot times, app launch times etc, hence why most of the latest phones are quad core 1ghz+ now, you just need to compare them to older sets to see the improvements.

I had an IPhone 3 and had two 3gs's was a die hard fan but got sick of itunes, sick of the phone having poor to no signal, sick of not being able to share my music with other phones and when it had to be sent away for repair due to signal issues I got it back sold it and paid off the remaining contract. Looked at the IPhone 4 but again the lack of sharing music and the poor reception issues I bit the bullet and tried an android phone. To start with I thought I made a mistake as it came across a lot more complicated to use over the ios but when you get used to it they are so much better, I find it faster, more stable and less glitches. The ios seems so slow and buggy compared to android, since Google have taken over the app market place its as good as apple, plus most if not all apps are available for both markets now where as before apple had more stuff out there. Oh and I never drop calls, have poor to no reception and I can connect my phone to any pc and transfer music and pictures to my hearts content. I did wonder about the IPhone 5 but the s3 is a serious piece of kit and like most I phones that get released are actually poorer in comparison in spec, slower processor, less memory etc

I must be expecting too much from these new fangled devices which so many people get their knickers in a knot over.
I now understand than app boot time will be faster because the processor is faster which is fine. If i compare my Ipod touch to the wife's 4s, hers is deffo faster but we're talking 100th's of a second.
So far on this thread i have learnt that the S3 is better than an iphone but as per usual no one can actually come up with a reason why and as long as a phone can be used as a phone, txt and email with a sprinkling of Internet browsing then everything else is just a gimick that has no real use in the real world on a daily basis. ....... yet i stil want one

OK so that's -2 for the iPhone 4s, it's not as good at rebooting and it's rubbish for mobile to mobile piracy. Bring on the 5, I'm sure Apple have fingers crossed they can cross those two off the list.

Please clarify why rooting an Android device is a pain in the butt. Rooting an Android device is no different to Jailbreaking an iPhone and you get more than just a screensaver! If you don't know what your putting on the device when rooting/jailbreaking a device, well then you shouldn't be doing it at all.
