it was a impreza bugeye 2001 turbo crap in my mind sti is the one to have but i dont think that would keep up0.60 on a dry road wet road then no chance maybee a 400 bhp scoob would leave one on a dry road

I would recommend some driver improvement and vehicle handling courses, which can improve your driving style on wet and dry conditions.

So, there we have it .... Torque of 350Nm's is a performance car figure .... let's not have anymore nonsence about 'slow' diesels!!!

You are not facing facts.
Cooking model turbo Scoobs of both yesteryear and today are no match for today's sport oriented diesels with much better technology of how to put their power down through just 2 wheels.
You will have to go to STI power to match them and that comes at a price. Modded STIs of course are another kettle of fish.
Part of what Pete is saying is right, the fact that certain people can't accept it is neither here nor there.

I pay more to live in this home than you're getting paid I would wager ........ I'm entitled to unlimited data transfer - isn't that your lucky fact of the week?

Will driver improvement courses make the power to weight ratio of a standard bugeye Turbo increase then?

Another classic PSlewis thread
Will it get to the magic 10 pages
interesting reading about the 2013/14 new STi that it is gong to be diesel powered and a smaller 2ltr petrol engine for the petrol version of it
Subaru have realised that the mass market want good mid range torque performance and 50mpg
Instead of great performance but 20/25 mpg and an expensive cam belt change at 36k and £480 a year road tax

Trouble is John, Subaru are offering too little too late. They are just not keeping pace with the big boys and playing catch up will not get market share.
Sad to say that it must end in tears and I find myself being in part agreement with some of Pete's points.

Now then soft lad, don't go getting those frilly little panties of yours all in a twist over a smoker that costs more to buy and service than it does for me to put fuel in my car.
And then if you want to make your money back in fuel saving or economy you have to drive it to the moon, do a couple of orbits and drive it back again.

I think you are lecturing the wrong person. I have moved on to a V8 petrol these days, can't be bothered p1ssing about with stupid Japanese 4 pots that cost an arm and a leg and look like the ******* son of Satan's ringpiece, but the fact remains sports diesels are killing the Impreza and thank God as it's a pig ugly sh1tbox these days and seems to be driven by bigots to boot!

Only because your rusty old classic fell to pieces driving it to the scrap yard, i have my 'sporty' diesel company car for the donkey work and use my Scoob at weekends if it's all the same to you.
