I just can not see how this is some sort of victory for Apple, the judgement goes beyond stupid the more you read about it.
It would be impossible for this jury to come to such a decision in a short space of time, even if they were all experts in mobile electronics and patent law.
If the jury had actually taken the time necessary to properly deliberate this, then it would have been a six month process, the sheer longevity of deliberation is also not for the layperson with no given field of knowledge in the subject.
Samsung were being judged by a group of people in a country with rife nationalism and with a general prejudice against Japan/Korea who proved too stupid to get out of jury duty.

Maybe but the average Joe isn't a fanboi and the networks that actually buy the phones will want the best deal and if a Samsung smartphone is a $100 cheaper than an iPhone, they will push them more.

In actual fact there is no negotiation, Apple set the cost of the handsets and the the network providers either take it or leave it. The only leeway for consumers wanting the iPhone is on the tariff.

The LG KE850 Prada came out 6 weeks before the iphone and was announced before the iphone, it was a 3g phone (the iphone was a 2g device with edge), you could say that this is the first real smart phone, it changed the market, look how much apple's phone looked similar!

Give Apple some credit Tony, without them you probably wouldn't have a job, the iPhone almost makes up for the lack of 3G coverage in Wales.

Not everyone is like Apple and has an all singing, all dancing press conference, alot of companies will say "we are releasing xyz" then do a press conference rather than "this is what we are releasing"

Apples release strategy is the envy of the electronics world. They don't need to release images to web sites months before an official press release like your example. They announce a product and in most cases you can then buy it, if not instantly within a reasonable timescale. They truly are masters of product release.
