Blimey! Can of worms very much opened here I think!

Looking at the pictures I am thinking that anthracite could be the way to go, but am still open to the suggestion that I am wrong.

Victoria, dont do it. There are very few cars left where gold is pleasant. My dealer could not believe I had my wheels anthracited before delivery of my STi7. Gold wheels on a Blue/Black car? Yuk.

Come to think of it, I had all the nasty Subaru and WRX Impreza badges removed as well. Much nicer.

J MacDonald. Your car, registered Nov 96, one of the first MY97 cars? I would love to know where my 1st Scoob is. BTW, gold wheels were acceptable back then

Cool

Well, as has been proved here - Gold Wheels are PANTS and STINK and are for 'Has Beens' nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!!!!!!!

So there - report me to the Mod Police if you dare!!

I find Gold Wheels Tasteless and Offensive, so could the Moderators go around and collect all of them and throw them in the bin marked 'PC'? thank you!!

Hey Pete, you still got your skip or did some unfortunate buy it from you. Another thing , why do most people with soft tops drive with the hood up when its sunny.

Chip.

Hey Chip, it was sold to someone who rang from Thialand!!! sight unseen ............... only 291 made old chum!! Only ONE original - MINE!!!

Do a search (national) on Autotrader and you will only find ONE other Ghia 1987 available - at £2495!!!!! Bl00dy hell and I gave away a minter for £1200!!!

So, there we go - my Scooby lost about £5,000 in the 13 months I had the 'Skip' as you call it!! - the Skip lost? gained? I couldnt possibly comment but I CAN say that the TOTAL running cost of it over 13 months was NIL!!!!

Who are the Complete Idiots?? I think we Scoobie Owners are being hung out to dry!!

Uh, pslewis, what are you on about: "as has been proved here - Gold Wheels are PANTS".
A quick tally of responses shows at least 15 'thumbs up' for gold and about 4 'thumbs down' (I'm being generous here too!)

I think you'll find that although most people would not 'choose' gold wheels, very few actualy hate them - at least not with detestation exhibited by yourself

"is the sea your sunshine have we been told
the sea is you lifeline you're going for gold
you took the words right out of my mouth"

Not only have you ABSOLUTELY NO taste in wheel colour - you have a mathematical hang-up - go back and count again!!

I have counted and it seems unnanimous that Gold Wheels are Cr4p - see a thread on the same thing on the SIDC forum.

The Gold is only painted on - get them cleaned and get rid of that tacky paint!!! there is NO excuse for looking like a right ............. well, whatever people with tarty wheels look like!!

Strange that nearly all rally prepared Scoobs have gold wheels if they are so ****e...

Also stange that Subaru UK decided to fit them to the Series McRae, Catalunya, Terzo, oh yes and the 22B as standard.

It's proven that gold wheels actually decrease the unsprung weight of the car, thus improving handling dramatically.

Any Scoob without gold wheels is simply not worthy of the badge.

Quite conclusive proof then!! The Gold Wheel clad top picture shouts out, 90's has been, Nove boys look, look I can copy the WRC car!!, look I havent got taste or, simply, look out T1T driving!!

Those lovely silvers say, man comfortable with his own taste, no need to be a tart, no need to copy everyone else, simply, look out man with own mind and taste driving!!

Looks like the Silvers/Anthracites take the debate by the neck!!

Gold on one side, Silver on the other, then park according to your mood

Do you have access to a play station with Grand Tourismo on it, if yes get a Scooby in the colour of your choice, then go to the wheel shop & try on all the different wheels available there are loads & they even have gold inner with silver rim now theres a thought. This is probably easier than photoshop but dont know how yhe heck you could post the results.

Personally I have a deep Gold on a Silver Wagon & I like it but its all personal choice.

Just to put it all into perspective ............... someone who has very little interest in cars said that they knew someone who had a car like mine, but theirs had Gold Wheel Covers!!!!!!!!!!!

So, maybe its not really the end of civilisation as I know it!!

depends on your prefernece, doesn't it? My scoob has gold 16" on mica green, a combination that reminds me of jaguar racing... now if only they could do better than 19th and 20th in qualifying and actually design a decent F1 car!!!

PSlewis,

You obviously have some serious hang ups about gold wheels. You have made this into a personal crusade!

Can't you afford them

I guess you're right. I have been living in denial for so long now... Your posts are a revelation to me.

Could you come over and check my wardrobe for me as well? Oh, and maybe my girlfriend, cats, house even...

Unhappy

I am not convinced, but want new wheels. I currently have silver MY98 16's (like STI5 but silver) on my MY97. I want new wheels, at least 17 's, but can't quite accept the gold ones. What do you all think? Do thay look good or are they just shi*t?!

Have been looking at prodrive ST2 or prodrive PD7.

Opinions please.

V
