I don't get the happiness in coming second...
Swimmers and divers automatically attract that sort of speculation.
Ian Thorpe, for example, camp as Christmas but has never admitted whether he is or isn't gay. Tom Daley might well be, but too young to be able to admit it to himself, let alone his family etc.
But then we might start off the Sexuality Ignorant on Scoobynet who will protest till the sky turns green that these guys "choose" to be gay etc. Just don't get me started.

I don't need to be qualified to state my opinion. What i said stands and you don't agree with it - fine.
I've had silver medals in the past for things (although not in the same league as the Olympics - or even close for that matter) and they have meant nothing to me as somebody else has won - that's my outlook.

That must apply to me as well then when I made my own point. Most of the competitors were actually pretty happy at having actually qualified to take part in an Olympic event. To have been good enough to get a silver or bronze medal would mean a great deal to them let alone actually winning a gold one.

Brun in amazing u-turn shocker
Don't forget, the Olympic village is a 'shagfest' every athlete got 15 johnnies at these games, more than double in Beijing because there weren't enough to go round.
Basically, lots of bored young people sitting about with lots of energy to get rid of...
