As much as I agree, you cannot avoid buying Chinese made products or products made using discreet parts from there.

For example; You can have British made speakers, with crossover capacitors and inductors made in china...yet it will say "made in UK" on the label.

Same with my Panasonic TV made in Hungary...you bet inside somewhere these is a dicreet component made in China.

Or my British chair...made in UK...but its components...like the gas strut (usually a universal part on lots of office chairs)...made in China. Wheels on my chair? same....made in China. God know who made the nuts, bolts and screws.

A bottle of Windolene spray? made in EU? Sure the liquid is, what about the trigger gun? Where is that made, I can give you a guess.

And your car...made in Japan? Germany? Spain? Not entirely. Somewhere in there is a PCB and on that PCB will be a part, be it a chip, resistor or capacitor....made in china. You cannot avoid it.

As much as you'd like to aviod anything that comes from China, you can't its pretty much impossible.

Ironically, the food from my local Chinese restauant mainly comes from the UK.

I appreciate that, and curse the governments of the west for screwing their peoples blind whilst allowing the east to destroy our economies. The EU and US need to join forces and start imposing massive 'ENVIRONMENTAL' taxes on goods from the far east so that the resulting price rise negates the financial justification of mass manufacture there. Case in point being the fact that just the worlds 16 biggest container ships produce more pollution than ALL the worlds 330m cars, yet UK drivers get raped more and more, and no-one ever bothers the billionaire shipping magnates and multi-national manufacturing companies. It's almost like the politicians are somehow corrupt and have something to gain from these few billionaires instead of serving us poor saps struggling to put food on our tables.

It's not so simple as that. The poor saps will suffer more as price of goods rises to offset the tax rises on the corporates for starters. Besides this is going a bit off topic.

There was a male swimmer being interviewed earlier and he says he beat his PB by 5secs from 1 year to the next and said when you're young, it's quite normal to have big leaps like that.

oh the first case of - "your cheating, im telling my mum" has been thrown against an athletle in part of a countries presentation of ther sporting elite.
and in a world where its not doping thats dominant, but who has got the best/scientifically advised anti doping detection experts!!
considering epo has a failry short half life, youd imagne the IOC woud dedicate a sizeable investment in detection of users and try use it across the board? its 2012 afterall and a finite amount of competitors, so wouldnt be that difficult to screen them all???

or are they being assisted by humongous medical teams that understand the behavior of drugs and accompany each countries entrants, and guided as when would be best to use them around doping timetables??? surely not- the shock horror!!

in this day and age youll get the odd, gentically gifted in every department athlete that displays through natural varience the performance and stature associated with PED'S, and there the ones jumping on clean clean clean - but theres absolutely no hesitation in my mind many athlestes use drugs they know are beyong testing porotocol, or atleast how to minimise chances of detection at games like these.

not commenting on the swimmer - she was known for her fantastic natural bodyshape and appendages that woud be ideal for swimming - well done her.

but heres a point - the best athletes at these types of events are not there because they trained that little bit harder, orlonger or controlled ther diet more, or have a greater understanding of there sport, and its application. they are there as mother nature(basically mum and dad)born with attributes that are a positive in certain events.

there can and never will be a level playing feild due to genetic variance - many refer to this as natural ability or skill ect, its not, its one human being with a better gentic background than another, and being able to spot it and manipulate it.

this obviously is in conjunction with optimum training techniques, nutrition, mental attitude along with a myriad of other affecting values. but a "freak" ect in there feild is usually ther becuase ther body naturally displays more behaviour associated with a PED users.
therefore by natural occurance they have an advantage - often described as talnet/skill ect - to me its not - its just they display a set of genetic conditions by change that gives them thedge over others

agree/disagree?

do you know the IOC'S ped testing protocol??

i dont but woul like to read it tbh

its not beyond comprehension a synthetic substance has been developed to enhace performance and remained outwith known IOC testing procedures - by any country that is.
generally quick half life drug use is safest as the window for detection is short

things like growth hormone use(unless a tagged varient is used) are popular to to minute chance of detection - insulin also fallsinto this catagory - and as the most anabolic substance known to man, remains popular - but they all have there own area of application. some of these are useless in certain sports - but im sure there well trained medical staff have studied these in depth and worked out there best use/timings.

i would absolutely love to read the yearly plan devised by the IOC testing schedule and how iits devised.

i really dont think everyone is a drugs cheat tbh, but i do beleive ped use is far from extinct. in most high profile sporting events

I have no idea about the testing protocol, however, I suspect that, like in most things in life, it's responds to new breakthroughs.

In F1, a team interprets the rules, comes up with something new, then the FIA decide to ban it. I doubt it's not much of a similar scenario for a scientist to inent something which isn't banned, and once the IOC sceintists work out what it is, it then gets banned.

Like Ben Johnson ?

Lots of amazing performances have been explained by subsequent drug scandals. Usually miracle performances are drug fuelled.

Let's not forget, how we all praise Phelps has won 20 Olympic medals, 15 of which are gold and yet no one harps on about his performance could drug enhanced. How about stop bashing the Chinese and perhaps show a bit of appreciation that she is extremely talented at what she does and the hard work she put in. She is only 16 and 5 seconds is not that unusual when you consider Thorpe knocked 8 seconds off his personal best when he was 14.

The Chinese or the Swiss, more likely, since that's where the world's savviest pharma labs are all based. I was reading an article more than a year ago in fact, that said they'd already figured out a way to make a synthetic form of EPO which was completely undetectable, and there's bound to be more where that came from.

you have to give it some context - carlw lewis was the ameican savior the symbolism of americanism, top of the jeague - golden boy in every veiw

beat by ben johnstone the nandrolone cheat - was fantastic for feulling the public outcry and explanation of how magnifcant carl was beat - there could be no other reason - this fuelled an attack and change in drug class for peds and the stigma that went with them - a scape goat was needed, and against recommendations from nearly every U.S medical community that had studied the impacT/dangers of peds the government changed there criminal status regardless and appeased the great people of the USA - THEN THERE WAS CALM LOL

That thought had entered my mind as well. But better give her the benefit of the doubt. What she has done is amazing and she deserves full credit unless someone can provide some proof that she has cheated.

I hardly see the relevance. Just because possession of roids and other PEDs might not have been a criminal offence before that (or was only a relatively minor one, compared with the getting-high types of narcotics) doesn't mean their use in competitive sport was ever permitted. From that point of view nothing changed, except that it became harder for athletes to get into using PEDs at grass-roots level, so are you saying that was a bad thing?

It's strange no one has picked up on the fact that Rebecca Adlington was not doping, she swam her last length of her 400m freestyle final in 28.91 seconds, that's even faster than Ye Shiwen, surely our British swimmer was cheating too, right? I mean the British have a history of cheating, Linford Christie, Dwain Chambers and David Millar. Aren't Britain cheating by having Millar and Chamber's life time ban lifted so they can compete in the Olympics?
