The repair that has clearly turned in to a project

I love them. They are immense. I think the 22B is is my alltime favourite shape of anything excluding supercars, I think it would have been sacrilige to butcher the mechanics on a genuine article so this is the ideal compromise!

Horrific work schedule happened to it, followed by snow or rain every weekend I try and make up time, which is no good when my next task is an outdoor one. (garage full of gearbox and associated parts so car is on drive)
I have however, got the bodywork finished (but saving pics for a grand reveal) and have fitted battery to the boot. I'll post up pics of that before end of weekend.
At what feels like the millionth attempt I made a start on removing rear hubs and drivetrain yesterday. Literally everything is rusted, seized or basically knackered, nothing would come off even with the help of a 3 tonne jack to apply turning pressure on ratchets and spanners.
I've got drivers side off (took 6 hours and hub is still attached to lateral control arms, but off car), near side is generally unbolted but main axel nut will not undo for love nor money.
Not the best days work, I was expecting to have had diff, prop and gearbox removed and halfway to refitting by close of play!!!

A few 'pictorial' updates.....
Firstly, the battery in boot install was finished a few weeks ago, looks quite tidy I think
Easter weekends project had been to get as far as I could with the 6 speed gearbox conversion.....which also means, prop, rear diff, rear drive shafts, rear hubs, rear brakes etc.
Deciding to work from the back of the car forwards, unfortunately literally everything was totally seized, rusted or knackered and it took some serious effort and ingenuity to get most bolts and nuts undone (turning immovable spanners with the lifting force of jack came in handy)
Eventually the drivers side rear hub was removed, but as the lateral link bolt was totally seized I had to bring the control arms off too!
The nearside was a little easier due to experience from drivers side, but it too needed control arms to come with it.....and it was a hell of an effort getting axel nut undone (two days in WD40 etc)
After that it was easier to undo diff fittings and voila!!
To be replaced with this R180
New diff went on relatively easily thank god. Next job was to replace rear suspension, manky old standard jobs off, sexy new BC Racing External Reservoir system on
Fitted and looking good
I also fitted these at various WD40 soaking intervals

Good to see that you're still cracking on with it John.
From what you've been through removing stuff, perfect opportunity to fit something like this;
Unless you already are of course.

Annoyingly I ordered Whiteline control arms and front and rear sway bars earlier today, but couldn't find trailing arms. I would have been all over that kit if i'd seen it earlier.
Can you get the trailing arms separately?
