Totally agree with the above.

By time you locate a vent, ensure it has all the parts and that the seal isn't damaged. You also have the cost of paint and the agro of colour match.

Buying new is always the better option.

I was very lucky with my new age one, found one at Japanparts at a very good price second hand.... All intact but as Frayz says they take some work stripping and rebuilding and lucky for me I was having some paint done so just added the flap to the job. The difficult part of a second hand one after painting is cleaning and re fitting the rubber seal around the vent itself. Saying that though it is worth it to save some cash but if it was before the Yen shot up I would have got new myself. The plastic screws cost a fortune from the dealer for the interior moulding, when fitting my classic vent I put them somewhere safe and never found them again and had to buy new.

Dont know if this is any help but saw this Hatch on You Tube with a flap fitted so might be worth your while emailing the owner and asking what he did.

A very nice Hatch indeed!

Import parts are available through subaru uk .. i only know that because i order them .

65754FE000 is the internal metal section , which i can get
94461FE000 which is the plastic section ..

Just need the seal and vent numbers..

The newage Spec C and classic RAs are different kits:

The part number you have for the frame is spec c and not RA
The part number you have for the plastic trim is RA and not Spec C

Seal for the Spec C is 65754FE000

I don't have the vent number to hand I'm sorry.

Spec C = new age fitment

Not done one yet Rob, but yes it can be done as I've also looked into it.

If you get the kit and want one fitted, I'm happy to fit for you.

Go for it then.My only advice would be to try to source one over here as by the time you pay for one plus import tax it can work out quite expensive.SJ.

Has anyone managed to source a new one over here through a dealer?

I know they are a JDM part but if the correct part numbers are supplied can a UK dealer order it?

To be honest i tried with no joy,i never understood why thoughgive it a try and see you might be lucky.I ended up purchasing direct from japan the full kit, colour coded WRC blue for the perfect match already,it just required my man frayz fitting it for me,and the rest as they say is history.SJ.
