Spec C roof vent fitting tutorial.

Hey guys/gals.

Just letting you know that the guide for the roof vent had since been refreshed and now hosted on my own web page.

Anyone thinking of doing this may very well find this helpful.

Cheers,

Frayz not sure if you could shed some light on this but is there a flap to fit the hatch or will any newage fit?

frayz 18 June 2012 08:26 PM

No flap for the hatch to my knowledge. But I'm sure you could fit something with a little work. :)

Prodriverules (Ryan) fitted one to Jura's bug wagon - not a straight fit but should be easy enough to measure up the flap from a saloon. If someone can fit one to an Evo it shouldn't be too difficult:thumb:

Bugger that is a shame, well if you are up for a little project then may be there is a little something we could work out
Pm me your thoughts :-)

frayz 18 June 2012 09:16 PM

Many thanks Adrian. Steve, drop me an email at frayz@frayz-engineering.com and I'm sure we can come up with something.
:)

Jon, the one in the evo was a race car so didn't matter about fitment. I won't do it unless I can make it look OEM.

stevie1982 18 June 2012 10:04 PM

Frayz will drop you a mail from work tomorrow as I'm on my mobile at the minute so it will be easier. Have a think about it as its something I "have" to get done, sort of obsessed about it

frayz 18 June 2012 10:22 PM

Well if anyone can do it, I think we can make it happen :)

I'm guessing we would need a "newage" flap? From a bugeye onwards?

Point me in the right direction and I will get one, been looking all over and can't find one any where.

frayz 22 June 2012 08:51 PM

Yep newage flap required mate.
Best bet is to buy new from Japan parts. By time you find a second hand one an then get it painted it's just as easy to buy new and it's all perfect.

prodriverules 22 June 2012 08:58 PM

With enough forward thinking and initiative anything can be made to look OEM and of course money if you want it done!

Dave-W- 22 June 2012 09:06 PM

I'd drive to see frayz mate regardless of how far it is as you'd want a propor job done by someone who's experienced if it involves cutting the roof

Well done Frayz

Many thanks for your kind comments guys. I pride myself on the highest attention to detail possible. I treat every car like my own so every one is a proper job.
If its not 100% right, it's 10000% wrong!

I genuinely love what I do and love seeing people's faces and comments when you give them their car complete with something that looks and feels like it was made that way.
I'm delighted to hear people recommend my work.

Thankyou again :)

Steve I'll help you out.

Newage roof vent kit part number on Japan parts is.

Cheers Tommy, appreciate it. Sorry what I meant was ordering parts for the hatch is a pain as they change the year earlier there than here and there is a cross over point and it can be for what we class the 08-10 but they class some stuff 10 onwards as it was released earlier of that makes sense. Although it means nothing on this part as its for any newage car.

Thnks though, out of curiosity what was the cost for the part and then how much did you have to pay for the importing duty and taxes etc, if you don't mind me asking

as it is in yen i paid by card and until i get the statement im not 100% sure due to exchange rates.
it was around £350 including delivery and the about £90 tax and delivery this end.

expensive but i wanted to make sure i had all the correct parts and no need for painting.
as im travelling to frayz for fitting i dont want any problems with missing screws, damaged seals etc so this was the best way and also i couldnt find one anywhere.

No worries mate, agree though as at least everything should be in the box and go according to plan. Hens teeth over here as I've been liking for weeks. Only one I can find is of a classic ra and they want £250 and as you say then plus paint it won't be much in it at the end of the day.

Thanks for the input

i only saw the odd classic one when looking but another issue with painting is the new ones have a sticker on the underside which is the same colour as the roof lining so when closed no body colour is showing.

being a bit anal about these sort of things i didnt want to repaint one and lose this.
