That's tempting Jamo...... But I'll be getting this one:-
Panasonic DMP-BDT220 MultiRegion 3D Blu-ray Player Skype Wi-Fi 3 Year Warranty
Due to its region code hacking capability (plus the two free Blu-rays deal).

Yeah I know that's the 'going rate' for the 220..... But it lacks the firmware mod to allow remote control region hacking.
And I MUST have the multi region capability (for both BD and DVD) -- it's the only reason why I'll be getting it (compared to my current Samsung).

...Or is said f/w 'mod' just a simple update to the very latest f/w version?

NO mate.
Check out your link to that ad... It's "Region B"-only for Blu-ray i.e. Europe (and some other territories).
I need Blu-ray regions A, B and C (well, A and B mainly).
And DVD regions 1-8 (well, 1 and 2 mainly).... Which the item in the ad to my link has (I've confirmed it with the seller).

We're looking at upgradign the whole AV thing at the moment.
We'll be getting a 'smart' TV so why do I also want to need a DVD player that can go online? surely that is just pointless is it not?

5t, you're right, you don't need both. I do have both because the Bluray i recommended in fekkin JUNE is also Smart, but i never use its Smart capabilities.
What i want to know is why the ITV, C4 and C5 catch-up services aren't available on Smart equipment. It's 2012 for God's sake, get it sorted.

It's the 'final piece of the Smart TV jigsaw' AFAIC.

Cheers TelBoy.
Gettign a bit fed up of paying twice for the same bloody thing and none of it actually working properly.
It should be either online or not. Quite simple and the kit should work as one, especially if you bought it from the same provider, it's just an excuse to charge more for features that aren't needed.
Basically, I don't want to TV and DVD player competing for bandwidth with the phone and laptop!

But they don't unless you activate them do they?
My telly is also Panasonic so it links well to the Bluray, but i woudn't say the link is essential, it's just nice to have remotes that can operate both.

I dunno. No idea how it works, hence askign here before some yoof in Dixons tries to have my trousers down.
Still it's going to be sold to me as a feature I don't blooming need.

I left 180 quid with those ***** in the early nineties when they wouldn't give me my money back on a voucher I had. (couldn't decide what I wanted for a year, after returning an av player I'd bought from them)
Found myself in there recently looking for an LG. Tv, what the **** was in thinking

Went somewhere else when I'd snapped to my senses

On a good film, my 3D is actually on a par with the 2D image, but films that good are few and far between. my favourite to date for absolute image quality is Prometheus.
However, be aware that the glasses also play a big part.

Sky use the side by side format that loses half the horizontal resolution and outputs 2x 960x1080 images on the same screen where as Bluray uses a frame sequential format so that full HD resolution is maintained as long as you have an active 3D TV that can output it properly.
