Hi Ty, I would be up for it but after the last run i think i have developed bearing issues although it is proving hard to work out exactly where the noise is coming from. add that to the usual knocking struts and a need for tyres and i habe a few quid to spend before its ready for another run. i am planning to get the work done in the next few weeks but the mechanic i use couldnt hear anything when i took him out on a run in it, bloody typical really! Any tips on how to ID the exact source or is it just a matter of driving it and listening?

 

When you say bearings Ian do you mean wheel bearings?

Have you checked the anti roll bar drop links to make sure they haven't failed? That seems a pretty common failing and can leading to a knocking noise.

 

Sorry people but due to a general lack of interest I am going to postpone this until later on in the year, possibly September or October.

I do enjoy the organising and actually the day itself but if enough people aren't interested then there is little point in going ahead. I hope that when I post up some details for the next run that it is received with more enthusiasm than this one has been.

I have had the shocks go before so I am assuming that it’s this that has gone again but it’s worth a look. I would be happier if it is the droplinks as I can get some nice alloy ones instead.

It’s the wheel bearings that I have in mind as the issue. I get a whirring rubbing noise through corners that sounds like bearing issues from previous experience in other cars. I think it is there all the time but far worse on cornering. It’s a bit difficult to hear anything when in a scoob so hard to say weather it is front or back. I will replace both sides at the same time and could always replace all corners but don't really have cash to splash on jobs that don't need doing right now.

Good news, I PM'd Azi and he has confirmed that he and his mates will be coming down in Septemeber or October (exact date to be confirmed).

So Cinderella you shall go to the ball, I will start a new thread when exact dates are worked out.

They are quite keen to go up to North Wales, as am I .

Bugga north wales there's plenty of a playground round here, that plus a cracking Mcdonalds in Merthyr, it's a no brainer!

I have had a response back from Azi and he has said he and his mates are looking to come down on the 29th and 30th of September.

So who is up for a nice leisurely drive either up to and around North Wales or
around the Brecon Beacons, Elan Valley and possibly up to Aberystwyth?

I will start another thread if we get enough interest, let's try and be a little more enthusiastic about this one and have a good day out in God's country.

It would be nice to see it out on the mean lanes of Wales, plus mine as well but I will be avoiding hedges like the plague as I don't want any scratches.
