Gaz.
i ran my standard hawk for almost a yr with a cat back system which i never remapped or needed changed for mot's.
it was loud enough but compared to other scoobs with afterburner etc it wasnt that loud on tickover but great on boost.
ive got a 3" downpipe with 100 cell sports cat afterbruner centre and haywood and scott backbox and the car sounds amazing, been driving around like that for 2yrs,
just swapped the backbox over for the afterburner one as i wanted the burnt tip.
look at the link below, if you change number 1/2 then u will need a remap.
and instead of having a 4 piece system you can buy the longer downpipe which makes it a 3piece system,

Just a wee update for anyone that finds this whilst researching:
I've just fitted my Ninja 2 backbox to my otherwise standard system on a Hawkeye, the difference is amazing! Should have done it as soon as I got the car. Sounds great, nice subaru burble, no drone, really pleased with it.
As Rob had suggested earlier, no need to change anything else if all you want is a better sound.
Almost worth the epic battle I had getting to old backbox off...

All UK Subarus are pretty much the same in standard form, its the aftermarket that makes the difference . You shouldn't expect to much from any standard Subaru.

If it is twinscroll ordering unequals will take away what made it such a good car!
Why you would make the car worse is beyondme!
