Penalty for contravention is a level 3 fine (up to £1K) but no points as far as I can see. Not sure I would call a grand a small fine! [/quote]
Oh dear, then _i_ am i BIG trouble. My washing machine is, as far as i know, "a device" (along with my CD-RW, GPS receiver etc.) and unfortunately it is incapable of talking a "photographic image" of my car number plate (even when stationary).
The law is an ***, and currently is probably being written by ASSES!!!

ooohhh, get her!
guess I ruffled a few peoples feathers eh!
I'm not bothered if people try and avoid speed traps, it's just those that winge about it that get right on my nipple end.
scoop,
no offence was intended m8. you simply asked a question, i replied that they don't work anyway and added my extra pennies worth on speeding. it wasn't directed at you specifically.
The police software, doesn't alter the original image. They can adjust the light levels to make the original plate stand out more or simple produce a picture from the negative.
Anyway, if anyone here wants to speed on roads, go right ahead, just don't start crying like a little girl when you get caught
camk,
I'm certainly not self-righteous, just of the opinion that if you break the law, then it's tuff ****. sorry if it upsets people, buy hey **** happens. just as well your in Germany with cheek like that anyway, I'm after a green beret, not a flat cap.
scoop,
BTW I didn't buy my scooby because it had a bright button !! they just didn't have any 3-wheelers left
deep singh,
.... well, what can I say. nothing, coz I'm stunned by your lengthy and desciptive post
got to go as apparently I have no life and spend all my sad life on this bbs.
stefan
PS. I think some of you must subscribe to max power or fast cars

scoop, well i think your as mad as a box of jumping frogs, what you should do is mount a lazer (you know the type ,the ones used in the james bond flicks) by your air intake and blast anything that flashes at you including anybody that is but naked.

Here's another daft idea for this daft thread.
What's the shutter speed of these cameras? Effectively, it'll be the flash duration which I bet is 1/1,000th sec or longer.
All you have to do is go fast enough for the image to be too blurred to read.
Anyone care to work it out?
What's the penalty for causing a sonic boom on Her Majesty's Highway?

Wonderful news - production has resumed.....honest!!!
PS - Why do so many people call them "Robin Reliant's"? - I haven't seen anyone refer to the "Astra Vauxhall" or even the "Impreza Subaru" - isn't life strange, eh??

Assuming you would need to travel 3 feet during the exposure this would be something in the region of 25 000 MPH. I would imagine at this stage the image would not be blurred, as the shockwave travelling in front of you would blow the gatso away. If this didn't do the trick, the fact that the front of your can would be about 2 milliom degrees due to the air friction involved would probably melt the gatso where it stood.
Webbie, do you have any plans to sell those teflon tiles they use on the front of the space shuttle from the scoobynet shop?
p.s. No one has mentioned stealth yet. Could this be the way forward?

Gastro,
Not sure what your on but your description of my comments doesn't fit my email. I was in fact saying the plates don't work so don't bother, if you care to read my posts. I als said better to have no plate but how long would you last.
Ozzy,
Your only gutted as there are no real motorways in Scotland to speed on. Its ma baw and I'm going home for my tea BTW

A few years ago, some of my brothers work mates put a plate reading W*NKER over his rear number plate. He drove around for a couple of days before I pointed it out to him!
I reckon this could be the best solution of all. Who would put a plate reading W*NKER on their own car? Could sound quite plausable to any plod who stopped you. They'd probably be too busy laughing to worry about nicking you...

Nah - you "just" need to be going fast enough so that your out of sight of the cameras second picture. I seem to remember one of the bike mags reckoned that somewhere just over 180 mph should do it...

camk,
yeah the motorways are crap, but we've got the best B roads - they're much more fun. And there's much less chance of gettin pinged by a speed camera
