i like t1rs, predictable in the wet or dry, but that said antiroll bars cut out the understeer in mine anyway.

budgets may be ok in the dry but will catch you out in the wet when you give it a bit too much throttle on a bend and end up facing the otherway or worse in the hedge.

id rather pay 50 pound extra for a tyre than a new front end on my car. but i like to explore the limits of my car now and then.

another factor is your suspension set up, the standard softer set up may be more forgiving than coilovers etc in the wet,also your driving skill will be a factor in how safe the tyres are. i.e. if you can catch and correct it in time before it all goes wrong.

that the make of tyre i will be using.
i had them on my supra with nearly 400bhp on the drive wheels, this was my car all year round, these performed beter in wet and dry than the t1rs i had.
im going to stick by these

had a few runs down the pod on these tyres and managed 14.1 fastest in 2010 had very little to no slip.(in the supra).
i have had a good experience with them so gonna stick with them,
but clearly bad experiences rule overgood ones
when i had my classic import i used avon zz3 and in comparison they were terrible alround tyres.
alot of people like the avon and they too were a budget tyre,
225/40/17 used to cost me £55 a corner now there near double that price cause more people started to use them.

Hi matey please loose those stickers and car will look million miles better than now.
About the tyres,we are run like budget on ST220 Admiral(first time heard of them),but after we are decide to replace them we are fit Continental and they just been perfect.

Now on Subaru we are tried like Kumho Ecsta(ditch finders in wet),Falken FK452(overall great tyres which are great like in wet or dry) and now on Vredstein Ultrac Sessanta and we are absolutely happy with them and i can only recommend them

And the tyres have done over 8000 miles and still dont need replacing. I think its just people have to have brand names when 9 times out of 10 you can buy equally good products for half the price if you dont care about brand names.

8K miles wow massive mileage mate Like I said they don't last long. I get 15-20K out of branded tyres usually.

Ok so you're saying that a budget tyre is better or as good as a branded and more expensive well known tyre?? You're on acid mate or trying to justify that buying cheap budget tyres is ok There's noway these sunnys are as good as say a falken 452 or vredestein tyre and these 2 examples are some of the cheaper branded tyres.

Anybody who says they didn't notice much difference between budgets and decent tyres is obviously not driving the car hard enough. Trust me, when you push it you'll wish you didn't skimp on what in reality is the most important part of your car.

And as someone else said, stop going to Halfords, you've obviously spent to much time in there already...

I had two budget tyres fitted to my car. Having read somewhere that you should have your best tyres fitted to the rear (Vredesteins, on this occasion) of an Impreza, I fitted the budgets on the front.

In the wet they were totally useless and under steered so much I had to tip toe everywhere as not to loose the front on every roundabout.

So I thought I'll fit them on the rear and wear them out normally and the handling would be more predictable and controllable.

WRONG.

The first time I went out in the rain with them on the back I went on to a roundabout carrying a bit of speed, lifted off to negotiate the rest of the roundabout and without warning, had the rear of the car swing round ninety degrees, just like someone had pulled on the handbrake, leaving me struggling to get it back facing the right direction.

I couldn't believe that it had happened so quickly and was surprised that the engine breaking had managed to lock the rear wheels.

I went around the roundabout a few more times trying to get the car to do it again and discovered that at the exact point I lifted of the accelerator creating engine breaking it would happen again and again.

So having established that I could recreate the circumstances of the over steer, I thought I could avoid it happening.

WRONG AGAIN.

On my way home later in the day, going down a country road that crossed a motorway bridge, I lifted off to slow down for the S bend over the motorway, the rears locked again and I seriously thought I was going through the barriers to the road below.

Needless to say, after that I went straight to my local tyre fitters, ordered a matching pair of Vredesteins for the rear. I had them fitted a couple of days later and am now growing potatoes in the budget tyres.

For me, budget tyres are a waste of money and nearly cost me my entire car!

If you read properly they have done over 8k and have loads left on them. Like i said,back to back test with a Yokohama there is very little if any difference. Sorry but i dont care what brand name is on my car as long as the items on it are up to the job. There are far to many people on here that have to have the best NAME and not neccisaraly the best PRODUCT.

This thread is full of overly critical sods! What's wrong with you all? Someone mentions their tyres have reached 8k miles and are still ok so it instantly gets twisted to read that they only lasted 8k miles!
Someone posts a pic of a car with stickers and you slate it to pieces.
He shows a pic of tyre paint and various other items of the car are under scrutiny!
Yet someone posts how his car locks its rear wheels whenever he lifts off and nobody notices he has a problem! I doubt your rear wheels lock just from lifting off the gas! Lift off oversteer is based on weight transfer, not locking wheels...Unless you're very jerky at changing down, but then you shouldn't be changing down gears on a bend anyway!

I do however agree with all the tyre comments. You shouldn't skimp on tyres on cars like these and you shouldn't mix them on axles. I realise times are hard for people at the mo, but you're better off buying used decent makes than new ling long ditch finders. Two friends of mine are in hospital right now after leaving the road at 60mph in horrid weather because of crap tyres! That said, alot of 'no make' tyres out there are just re-branded good makes, made in the same factory with slightly less tolerances!

Less of the criticisms. If someone posts a pic asking for comments, then fair enough. But the OP asked about tyres paint and he's had loads of stick about other stuff! We're all Scooby enthusiasts aren't we?

not any more by the looks of it mate. I've followed this thread from the start and noticed the regular numpties post their 2p worth, and come back for a another 2p. It is the way of the world these days and consequently the way of vocal majority on SN. Only a plebbish rare few would say the sort of crap that is in this thread to ones face but from the comfort of their own home they say whatever they like without a care.

To those who say 'but if you haven't noticed a difference, you must have not have been driving it hard enough'. I expect that to do so would require you to be on a track, and not on public roads, so who cares?

You think those tyres would be on the market if they were so bad? People need to get a grip (pun intended) and check their priorities.

However, rub the white off mate, belongs on a 4x4 jeep or something imo. to the car and decals !!
