Oh crappies you are right! Just checked the calendar
Sorry boys and girls I'm going to sit this out this year as I have already arranged and paid to be somewhere else the same day.

That was a pretty cool pic!!
Shame as I always enjoy this trip and now I have my own Scoob again it would have been even better. Maybe have another run don there in September?

I am aware my navigation skills are not the greatest but I don't think we will be? Once we leave Lakeside we will be going over Dartford Bridge and continuing clockwise on M25 towards M23, not back anti-clockwise on M25. However I will be passing Brentwood as I'm coming from jct 26, probably about 9.15/9.30 ish

I was thinking about trying to find someone else to lead this event due to my poor navigation skills mentioned above............guess it won't be you then No offence intended
So the plan is to leave Lakeside at 10, if anyone thinks they might be late then pm me for my mobile so can let me know and we'll wait for ya!

I have the route written down so am sure it will become clear on the day!
But hopefully there will be others coming who have been before and are welcome to take lead if they want! But I can't see a post about it on MSOC forum
We'll have a good day anyway

I have been looking at the map, and trawling my memory back to the days when I was a student nurse in Brighton many years ago, and have come up with an alternative route into the town once we come off Devil's Dyke Road, which will bypass the A23 London Road, which is very congested at the best of times - I am hoping this will be a bit quicker but I am aware this could go horribly wrong.............. If anyone has any objections to trying this way, please let me know, I don't mind. Also someone else may want to lead over Devil's Dyke as I may not be quick enough for some of you
ESC Brighton Run Sunday 27th May 2012
ESC Brighton Run Sunday 27th May 2012
Esc pink shirt event ( if you have one)
Open to all members
To anyone who hasn't been before we meet up at Lakeside services, then have a slow steady cruise down to Pease Pottage services where we meet up with the Sussex Scooby Crew.
They then lead us across Devils Dyke and into Brighton where we park up and then stroll along the pier and have a great family day out.
This really is a great day out. Lots of things to do for the little 'uns and not so little...... wander off and look at "the lanes" if you want. We normally head back about 4-5pm'ish after having a slap-up fish and chip meal in the resteraunt on the pier.
It's worth coming for the ride over devils dyke by itself
Leaving Lakeside at 10 am, should then meet the Sussex Crew at Pease Pottage about 11am. Head off the A23 and through the back roads so we come up Devils Dyke.
We then head into town where we shall just wander up and down the pier, kids can play on the beach or the amusements, grab a bite to eat and head home about 4-5pm
Pink shirts please and walkie-talkies on channel 1.
The route
*Leave PP services heading south towards Brighton
Pease pottage Horsham Road
Slaugham, West Sussex RH11 9TQ
Slaugham, West Sussex RH11 9TQ
* Leave the A23 at the Hickstead showjumping exit, driving over the A23 into a village called Sayers Common ( B2118 )
* Continue on the B2118 entering the village of Albourne
* Drive through Albourne until you reach the T junction with the B2117
* Turn right onto the B2117
* Take next left onto A281
* Continue down A281 for about a mile when you should reach a mini roundabout
* Over mini roundabout onto Saddlescombe road...
This is the road that then takes you over Devils Dyke!!!!!!!!!!!!!
* After the fun part you will arrive at a roundabout for the A27 go over it
* Continue straight on down Dyke Road Avenue, which becomes Dyke Road, continue on this road, past intersection with Old Shoreham Road, up to Seven Dials roundabout
Take 3rd exit onto Buckingham Place (A2010), continue to Brighton Station, turn left onto B2119, turn rt and rt again, following one way system and left at traffic lights back onto A2010
Continue on A2010, Queen's Rd, which leads into West St which ends at seafront
There is a car park at the bottom of West St on the right. The pier is to the left, and there is another car park in that direction should the first one be full up

I have no probs with new route , i'm easy with any route , as long as i get to the beech and start slapping the sun lotion on
Also the carparks your referring to , is that the NCP down russel road (off west st) and if that's full then turn right into cannon pl for the churchill square car park ?

I don't know if any of the Sussex lot are going......... have looked on their forum (I think they're Southeast scoobies now), but there's nothing there. However if anyone else shows up at Pease Pottage I'll be more than happy to let them take the lead and go whichever way they want!
As for the car parks, the first map I looked at showed a car park at the end of West St (after turn off for Russell Road), and also one towards the pier, but another map I looked at just now doesn't show those car parks, just the one you referred to in Russell Road, behind the Grand Hotel, and also the Churchill Sq car parks - so maybe the first map I looked at is out of date?
So it looks as though we may just be a small group on the day , and may just be a case ot wait and see when we get there as to where we park
