Colour changing is a massive job and 99% of times looks ****. The reason most look sh1te is because it's such a ball ache doing it properly.

Door shuts,
Underside of boot and bonnet,
Engine bay (engine out job to do it),

I'd never buy a car that had been colour changed and left the difficult bits unpainted.

You may as well facelift it buddy if your spraying.
Bonnet, grill, lights and bumper.

Oh and colour wise, gotta be white. Not that im biased or anything.

Or, RB5 grey with black crystal headlights and black wheels look sweet.

When i was young and Really stupid,(yes i know it's difficult to believe i was ever anything other than perfect ) i painted my mini with rattle cans

Then a year or so later i painted my Ford Cortina on my drive with a rented gun and compressor.

Needless to say, i've never done that again, Ah the exuberance of youth.

You live, you learn, well thats the theory anyway.

Good luck.

A 95 model will be worth £800-£1300 max
A respray would cost the same in value to the car ?

Lots of early wrx were silver

Sorry to say it buddy but it will never be an STI. It may well look like one but come sale time it will never be worth what a true STI is. As said above, a complete re-spray done properly will cost ££££ and will be getting close to the value of your car.
Also, by not notifying your insurance company of modifications is asking for trouble. It's illegal for starters and if (god forbid) anything was to happen the insurance company would wash their hands of you. You will be in serious trouble chap.

On another note, spray it this colour....

If you intend to do the job correctly then I would go for a colour that is a little different or not commonly seen on a day to day bassis. For example mica red, cashmere yellow or one of the newage greys which I think were called urban and crystal but that's just me.

It will be alot less work to keep it the same colour but 406 silver is hardly a great colour for an Impreza in my opinion. They made 0000's of early classics in that colour and for me, it just doesn't stand out from the croud enough.
384bhp, must have a pretty good spec then chap.
Look forward to seeing some pics and a spec list.

Suggestion - 792 silver??

406 is bland, flat and looks like a borning german car colour.

But 792 is like a champagne silver, and when washed has a lovely golden shine to it, and it's not miles off from 406 so wouldn't be too noticeable if you left the engine bay for example.
