Hi guys, a friend of mine has a nhb one of these with the leathers in it and is wanting to get his vtec changeover lowered. Can anyone give me any info on who is best to get it remapped? preferably in the west midlands area

on another note you all have stunning type R's and I've often thought of one myself but think I would end up in an S2000 instead

There is two company's that spring to mind but I am not to sure where about they are situated but I think they are round about where
you are from.

TDI north is one of them they do a k-pro hondata ecu and remap which lowers what time the vtec kicks in at and gives you extra horsepower but it is pricey as its a new ecu " I think it is or it might be a circut board put inside the current ecu not sure TBH "

CPL racing is the other and they can do the same as above but they can also do a reflash on your friends ecu.
I have this done to my civic so instead of the vtec kicking in at 6000 rpm and going to 8000 rpm
the reflash kicks the vtec in at 5200rpm and it goes all the way up to 8600 rpm and it is perfectly safe to do so as I have had no problems whatsoever with my civic after it was done and it is cheaper than getting the k-pro.

tell your friend not to buy those crap vtec controllers you see kicking around
and take it to somebody who knows what they are doing and there is no better place than the two company's above.

cheers pal, I've sent him a text now. He's rather upset that my jdm sti revs just as high as his type R lol especially being as I have a turbo backing it up lol

I have done a small bit of work tonight with the civic.

I got a set of facelift headlights that needed refurbed so I done them the other night as they were heavily scratched and they turned out not bad at all



fitting the facelift headlights is no easy task as the main beam and the full beam are on the same bulb and the facelift headlight the are two separate bulbs.
so I had to do alot of rewiring.

I didn't Finnish until 11.30 at night but we got the job done

By the time we were done it was really dark so I couldn't get a good photo but I will upload better ones in the morning.

I've always quite liked the Civic. A mate of mine had one a few years ago, he loved it.



I drove it a few times, couldn't get used to the VTEC though, missed the turbo I was used to in the STi!

Pity his Mrs hit a paramedic car head-on in it though. Everyone was ok, the car was repaired, amazingly. Even the Honda garage couldn't believe it when the insurance company said for it to be repaired, it was only a few months old but the damage was massive on the front end. It was never quite the same again after the repair. His Mrs took it in the divorce and left him the house so he didn't care.

Well said, the close-ratio 'box on the Type-R is exactly matched to the engine's power output, so if you shift up at 8000 it will drop you neatly into the next gear up just past the VTEC changeover. Makes surprisingly rapid progress for a 2l NA car

There's a nice trick to work out a good gear for overtaking if you're just bimbling along - divide the speed by 20 and that gives you the gear you want for VTEC. So if you're doing say 80 (on a private road ) you'll be wanting 4th gear, 60 will be 3rd.

@Nizmo80: you've got a lovely CTR there, I like everything you've done to it (apart from the rear light tints ). I've just gone the opposite direction, from the CTR to my first Scoob. yea I tinted the rear lights and it turned out to be a matt tint which I am not to keen on either but I will be putting on the tail lights of a facelift model shortly so it will look much better

I love the civic in traffic as I can cut in and out of traffic very rapid
I could not do that as fast in my old scooby.

I had a look at your scoob on one of your threads and I gotta say mate it is one very very nice impreza as that is my favourite colour and type of impreza's

Thanks! I'm really pleased with the Scoob, but I miss the Type-R in some ways for sure. Yours looks good in those pics, some nice touches there

Been a while since I posted one this thread on my civic type R and have done alot since.

lets see things I have done to the civic " a few of the things below I had done earlyer on last year but most is in the last month "

18" alloys
piper cat back exhaust
mugen rear spoiler
wind deflectors
rewired facelift headlights in
injen cold air induction kit

right now for the new things done

facelift front bumper
mugen front grill
rewired in a set of facelift tail lights
changed the springs to eibach pro springs lowering it 30mm front and 25mm rear
changed the induction kit to a tegiwa m carbon induction
silicone intake hose
polished metal fuse box cover
front upper strut brace
engine torque damper
ancillary and breather silicone hose kit
carbon inlet manifold cover
carbon spark plug cover
anodised battery tie bar
black plate for over the battery
tegiwa reserviour socks
custom painted rocker cover in oem black wrinkle
engine bay blue bolt and washer kit " only fitted half so far"
blue rocker cover washers
blue rocker cover nuts
fiberworx rear bumper lip " havent had the time to fit this but I will soon "
also bought a go pro hd hero 2

done all this myself apart from spraying the front bumper and grill but I did fit them tho
so really happy on how its turned out




















Hmmm things I have got planned for the civic over the next 12 - 18 months

s/s exhaust manifold 4-2-1 with decat
billet engine mounts
alloy radiator
either jackson racing supercharger or rotrex supercharger havent decided which one yet
70mm throttle body
skunk2 fuel rail
bigger injectors
walbro fuel pump
front adjustable cambers
rear camber arms
then fast road set up
skunk2 lower control arms
progress rear arb with tie bar
m-factory L.S.D
carbon syncro's for gear box
uprate the clutch
short shifter
upgrade my hondata reflashed ecu to a hondata k100 then remap with all the mods above
fit my facelift wingmirrors which are sitting in my spare room
J's vented and widened front wings with 20mm hubcentric wheel spacers
D2 330mm 8 pot caliper front brakes
maybe a carbon bonnet but this ones debatable


with the above fitted I will be expecting the bhp to be 300-310 with the jrsc or 340-350 with the rotrex supercharger
both are expensive but I am wanting to get one of them and it will take a little bit of time but I will get there in the end

I't a lot of time and money to get it to where an STI would be after a simple remap.

But as long as your happy.

I fancy one as a daily one day, when i'm in my late 60's maybe.

yea it is alot easyer to get that sort of power out of a impreza and TBH I really miss the sound of my old impreza sti
but I am much happyer in the civic but aswell as supercharging the civic
I am also considering only doing some of the mods on my to do list and
maybe buying a blob or hawk eye impreza sti or a evo 8 as a second car
and keep the civic for going to work and things like that.

Ive never really liked the honda civics as most people will know. But ive gotta be honest mate, your one really looks good mate. Love the engine bay thats for sure. Be intersting to see how this turns out

C'mon tell the truth the main reason is your backside would not fit in a civic emma
and my civic certainly does not have enough torque to drag your gorrilla **** around even if it could squeeze into the car

NO DANGER !! Im the guy from Nairn who was gonna buy that off ya "even had the cash in my pocket ya bugger" hahaha , Did ya not end up trading it in or something , Funny enough i ended up buying a Blobeye , Now romping a uk300 but VERY interested in the EP3's once again !!

LOL it's a small world aint it

I sold it to a fella in aberdeen then bought a impreza sti but I really missed this civic then my
head gasket failed in the impreza so I got rid of the impreza and bought the black civic pictured above and never looked back as I am so happy with the ep3

my old impreza was faster than the civic but my civic is way more nimble when darting in and out of traffic and TBH I like the civic way more than I ever liked my old impreza.
the silver civic I had was a cracking ep3 mechanicly sound as well and never skipped a beat when I had it

now that all that stuff has been bought though I will be starting to mod the civic further
