looks a nice one mr D hope it works out better for you than the scoob did
should make a good sleeper with a few mods then, i have never heard of a bora 4motion, i cant imagine its much better on fuel than a scooby though being 6 cylinder and 4wd.

so is it similar running gear wise to a golf r32?

more like a R32's dad but yes same runing gear the 32 has better suspension set up and 3.2 rather than 2.8.
fuel wise well i would say my 55 wrx is better i had the golf 4 motion which is the same car apart from the boot. had mine around 7 mths and over that time my average was 24 mpg can get low 30's on a run but will drop down as low as 12 if booting it hard.
the car is only 2wd most of the time it will only cut the rear wheels in if it detects wheel slip.

yeah they are a nice car as you say bit of a sleeper they not got the thrill/buzz of a scoob but still a 145 mph car that can/will suprise a lot of others. with the bonus of 4wd when needed.

possibly a good idea, i really feel for you in the problems you have had but maybe a few off your problems have been self inflicted by modding without the correct knowledge.

damn boys easy !!! i havnt even driven it yet let alone play with it !! i just got it out my garage . my mates just been over lookin at it and is well impressed "mechanic" cant really fault it apart from very slight pull on steering wheel when braking . been searching a few vw forums and internet and seems it could be a number of things , but its running very smooth now and pulls really well , i was really surprised how quick it is actually so hopefully its a minor gremlin ?

sais " fits all vw bora from 2002 -2005 " im thinking maybe because of 4wd ? but if so then that needs to be made perfectly clear in the add . i checked the car list that it fits and the v6 was listed , so its down to them to sort it or its fair trade standards and negative feedback for them

All you need for that v6 howl is a few sneaky holes drilled into the bottom of the air box........ Job done. There is a few threads on vr6 oc about it. Btw my mk3 vr6 says use super unleaded on the flap. I would assume the 4mo would be the same. I run mine on v power all the time.

Fair point. On a chavvy 4 banger corsa or something like, then yes it will sound fair tat, but have you ever done one on a vr? They don't sound like any straight or v6, they have a sound of thier own. How many boxes are in the exhaust system you have ordered/ sending back or getting swapped etc?

bored now , just goes to show there are some people on here that know their stuff as they were right about wanting another scoob !
problem is i was full of enthusiasm when i got the car and as i enjoy doing my own body work i pulled the rub strip out the front bumper and smoothed it . i also bought new headlamps , new pressed number plates and side skirts along with some 19" chrome rs8 alloys with falken 452's !! worst of all though i prepped the whole car ready for paint 11-12 hours sanding !!!!! the plan was air-ride , paintjob and reliable cruiser for the shows. thing is when im checking out the vw mags i keep finding myself getting drawn to banzai and jap performance knowing its all about jap at the end of the day and all this dub scene stuff just isnt for me sadly !! so its getting painted in " harvest moon " which is the cream used on new beetles with a black roof and its going up for sale
the new plan is to try the cars ive always wanted and just enjoy them . buy them cheap and if they go pop its not too much of a loss . my first car is a proper scooby , a classic sti so in your opinions what is the one to go for ?

cheers

Dave

Hello again.

Your a real gluten for punishment, sounds like the bora lived up to it's name, the problem with scoobs is they really do get under your skin, even though i have sold half the parts off my type r i still can't bring myself to part with the shell and running gear, and i'm looking at doing a ground up rebuild on it.

I'd echo the sentiments above with the V3 sti either a type r or RA, but i'd also suggest you buy a little banger as a run around while you work on your classic, cars are obviously your thing and i'm sure over time you will get better at it.

Two routes to chose from, buy a sorted one for 6/7k or buy one that needs work for 2/3k, i suspect you will opt for the latter somehow.

Nice to see you back and i hope you have better luck this time round.
