Looks really good on the car ian
Wrighty - if you want you can fetch the roof back up and i can refinish it in matte for you. alternativly if you wanted to do it yourself you could always get a good da palm sander, 3m p3000 trizact pad and make it matte that way?

as for peeling off the old metal skin, i did this to our evo IX what a nightmare, it was an alloy roof riveted on with steel rivets, went through around 3 spot weld drill bits before i gave up and just attacked it with a grinder loads better, no holes in the bonding flange either.
I couldnt actually belive there would be a weight saving over an alloy roof with a carbon one, but it was around half the weight.
Some of you guys are asking whether to remove the cross braces under the steel roof skins, i personally wouldn't. when you fit the roof and bond to these cross braces, this creates a cavity between the roof and the cross brace which inturn increases the stiffness of the roof. its all second moments of area guys

Yeah mine was the same, took hours to do the spot welds alone! And what a bitch of a job, luckily we had a few mates over to help and they all took turns drilling them out!
And didnt touch the metal cross members under the roof, as that will be all that will be saving my head if i ever managed to roll the car! :/

I bought it off Simon @ JGM, think he said it was a genuine WRX panel, thats all i know about it really. Its got the little fins built in on the back of it, had a bit of a problem with the laquer, got moisture in it and it went a bit milky, luckily my friend owns a bodyshop and he stripped it back and re laquered it, looks spot on now, been on a year with no probs (I was adamant it was going to leak lol)

I toyed with the idea of building in a votrex generator but i thought its kind of an evo thing, plus it would have made them more expensive. Refinishing carbon fibre isnt an easy task at all, but i would imagine no matter how badly made nay piece of carbon is that it would always be water tight

No worries, im looking at getting some stickers made soon for our car and a few others. was thinking i'd get a few made for everyone who bought a roof, can't beat abit of free advertising what would people want? dimensions? sunstrip? im unsure...

Yeh, they say on them do not open at speeds over 80kmh/50mph as when they do the snap open very quickly, been there
That's just opening when the car is moving though, if it's already open it's not too much of a problem as (on my own private test track) mine has been open at over 120+, but obviously this is a metal roof not carbon, all depends on how it's fitted I guess.

It would be a very bad idea to remove the braces as they have the inserts[threads] to hold the screws for the front/rear lights in the head lining and also the handles for passangers to hold on to.
Plus the fact already mentioned the complete structual strength would be lost and that would be dangerous
