When I'm on my own I have a bit of fun, but if there is anyone in with me, I remember my dad's words: "The job of the driver is to see that his passengers have aq comfortable journey".
And I also spent eight years mini-cabbing, where we were taught NOT to rely on brakes, so I tend not to be hard on mine.

I was in the market for the same thing as the OP a few weeks ago so I PM'ed both Bob and Ian for their best price and didn't get a reply from either.
Fair enough I thought, they probably get 100's of PM's on here and don't have time to get through them all, so I emailed both of them and within a couple of hours Ian replied with a very good deal and Bob didn't reply at all.
Bought the Godspeed grooved discs with painted centres and kevlar pads and I give a big
to the improved braking over the standard discs + EBC yellows that they replaced.

I reckon it all depends on your style of driving.

I just remembered that I fitted 'new fangled' Kevlar pads to my old Celica GTR, and got brake fade ON MY WAY to a trackday at Croft about 10 years ago. What a **** day that turned out to be.
I obviously have brain fade now.

We have tried the comline pads recently and found them not as good as our first choice kevlar pads that we have been selling for over 10 years , there are a few pads being sold as kevlar pads now and they are not all the same.
The comline ones are made in India , our kevlar pads are made in Germany , and they are very good as a FIRST ungrade from standard , they are good for the normal driver that likes to give there cars some stick now and again , they are not for sustained hard road use or track days , there are other pads suitable for that use.
Some people buy say the grooved discs and kevlar pad package for £109 , and expect them to work as good as a pad costing over £150 on there own , it's not going to happen ! and I make sure my customers know that the kevlar pads are the first step up only , and would not work as good as NDX , orangestuff , PF and DS2500's if your a hard driver.
Norman Dog and Alcazar both have our German made pads fitted , which I find very good if suited to the correct driver

The Comlines Kevlars are unimpressive, but were sold to me as a 'first upgrade' over standard pads.
They failed to do what it said on the tin.
Must check my guarantee . . . . . . . Bob?
Beaten hands down by cheap standard Apecs in my experience.
I didn't get them changed because it was psissing down all weekend.

I'm looking to buy a full set of pads and discs for my blob sti, going to get them from Ian,
But not sure what to get Kevlar or orange stuff,
On the orange stuff , do they have good bite from cold?

Personally never had a good experience with EBC Red stuff. For road use I found them to be much worse than standard pads. Maybe they are better on the track.
I have the comline pads in my brembos now for road use and find them to be very good personally. No fade as yet even on ‘spirited’ drives and good pedal feel. Very good for the money. If I were to track the car (which I very much doubt) I’d change them for a harder hotter pad beforehand.

Bob, my regular STi 5 has had the Type R 2-pot rear conversion done. But the (MIntex?) dimpled/grooved 290mm discs' centres have got surface oxidisation all over (looks really unsightly).
Do you do have any 290mm rear discs (pref. just grooved only) that won't suffer this problem...?

Only way to stop the bits oxidising is to coat them (i.e. zinc) or paint them. Painting them with VHT paint is easy. If you're discs have good life on them, try rubbing them down and then paint them? Will save you some cash. VHT paint is about £5 a can, which is more than enough to do all 4 discs.

I happen to have a large unused can of VHT paint knocking about somewhere (I knew it'd come in handy one day).
Does it take 24hrs to fully dry?

I just fitted discs and pads on sat all round on sat that i bought from aztec performance. Must say at the moment im unimpressed with them. Bought them on there may brakes sale, fronts are comline discs and kevlar pads and rears are comline discs and ebc pads.
How can i tell if the pads are the ones made in india or not? There blue if that helps and have a gap down the middle of the braking compound
