If you look closely at the photo's above you can see the separate bracket behind the main piece and it is bolted onto the strut tower at between the 4 and 5 "O"clock position.

Once you've got all the original bits of your car unbolted and temporarily out of the way you'll see all the bolt holes you need to use and it will become self explanatory.

The above photo's are definitely a big help though.

As above, you can just see the little bracket bolted to the main bracket and strut tower in pic 3 and 4.

How do you know how tight to go. Mine`s on (tw@t of a job and the bottom bolt on the small bit is totally inaccessible) but I`m unsure how tight it should be. Looking at the pics, there`s quite a lot of thread showing on the cylinder side....that seems very tight

Just noticed from the pic that only one of the `lock nuts` has been used...that`ll make a difference to how much thread is showing!

 

That was a waste of time. I started to tighten it against the cylinder and the bloody bolts which hold the stopper the the bodywork just pulled straight through the rubbers I need to source some sort of `penny` washers now so I can refit it. Wish I hadn`t bothered now

 

All the bolts holding the bracket to the strut should be tight as poss. The actual thread and red stopper that pushes on the end of the master cylinder should only be tight enough to stop it turning. Don't want to over tighten that bit as you could damage master cylinder!

 

That`s what I`ve just done. Tight enough so you can`t turn the red stopper by finger If it makes little or no difference after all that....I won`t be a happy bunny

I must have been overtightening for the bolts to pull through

 

Very strange. Can't think what I did different but didn't have a problem with bolts pulling through. Odd.

What could have possibly gone wrong? Mine's brilliant!

 

Fitted mine today and pleased with the results, bit of a fiddly job but certainly feel the improvement and have some braided hoses going on monday so hopefuly more improvement to come.

I fitted one of these recently and have noticed an improvement in pedal feel. I had HEL lines installed before this was fitted and while the lines improved pedal feel a bit, the brake stopper improved the pedal feel more IMO. It was part of a larger brake upgrade involving replacement disks and pads all round and painting the callipers while they were off, which was an ideal time to swap the lines out and change the fluid for 5.1 stuff.

It is a bit tricky to fit, I remember questioning its parentals more than once, but I'm glad I did. I agree about the bolts and the rubber grommets though and fitted washers to mine to help.

Yeah, even though it was fiddly and a tw@t to fit, can't really fit it wrong.

I might be selling mine as I removed it from my Impreza before I sold the car. Going to see if it fits my forester sti first. If it does I'm most certainly keeping it. If not, it'll be up for sale.
