Why? Public Enemy are probably one of the very best hip hop acts ever. If you listen to the lyrics you'll see that it's never about beatches, fast cars and crotch grabbing. The lyrics are very politically motivated, a little extreme sometimes, but I was a teenager at the time.
Saying that I do like crotch grabbing stuff as well, but the original stuff.
This was the first ever concert I went to, so old there is no vid

I'm not into bands or live shows so much like that. But the best night I remember was my only jaunt to Gatecrasher at The Republic in Sheffield. December 27th 2005 and it was the Crasher Christmas Classics event. I can still remember the line up for fellow ravers:
John '00' Fleming
Agnelli & Nelson
The Thrillseekers
Matt Hardwick
Will Holland
Riley & Durrant
Proper clubbing and the cyber kids were out in force. I'll never forget that night and jumping on the train at 7am back from Sheffield shattered but grinning ear to ear. "One more choon, one more choon" @ John '00' Fleming at 6.04am

I feel quite the reverse. Not a BJ fan, but can't stand (c)rap wannabee gangsta's waffling drivel in a monotonic drone to stolen music whilst trying to look intimidating and . If you can't sing, get away from the mic, and if you can't play an instrument either you've no reason to be on the stage. HATE IT !!!!! Rap should have ended with 'White Lines' IMHO.

Yes I can't stand that either, but if you listen to Public Enemy you will see that they are none of those things.
90% of all music is cr4p whether it's rock, pop, dance, rap, 'classical'. The trick is in finding the 10% of a genre that is actually good. Public Enemy represents that 10% for rap music.

My best gig that I attended was in a local pub in 2005. We were pub hopping, unintentionally watching a rough bird all over some cheesy Derek from Eastenders lookalike at each pub we popped into. They walked in wherever we walked in. Anyway, in the last pub on a quiet street, there sang a gentleman with his heart out! He had his own songs, which was a bonus. His pure voice and touching poetry were heatfelt! There was no other destination that we wanted to venture after that. We stayed on; listening to every song he sang there. After the evening ended for us, one of my friends told me that this local singer had not long lost his teenage son in an accident hence the pain in his angelic delivery. It was one most effective performance I'd ever seen. No one famous, but it put Take That to bleddy shame.

Marillion 95' Brave tour London Forum - There aren't many bands who can hold a candle to them live and looking around the room seeing members of the audience moved to tears during the song "The great escape" is a memory that will stay with me forever.
Rammstein Mutter tour - London Astoria - they basically blew the roof off the place. Stunning live show.
Iron Maiden Fear of the Dark tour..... British Legends...Nuff said.

I was absolutely blown away by it, both musically and Chuck D's astonishing lyrics

Saw the Kinks just before they released their second single - great atmosphere. Also on the bill were the Ronettes and the Yardbirds.
Another great one was Groundhogs at Malvern, with Glen Cornock's Wild Turkey in support. What a bass player
