The Jap version is almost identical to the Spec C. The only real difference is 70kg weight difference, reinforced suspension turrets, inlet size diff. Otherwise there's not really much else, mine even has the roller bearing vf36 Turbo as in the spec c which is slightly different to the vf37 journal bearing Turbo.

What the F*%K are you going to do with a 550bhp (unless your going to run it on race fuel) car. Nice dream, but the reality would **** you off in less than a week.
Laughable as a daily drive proposition. The Spec C was only just live-able at the level you had it. Buy an M3, it'll suit your needs (bragging rights aside) much better.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Tony Burns is the Jdm torch bearer and encyclopedia here on scoobynet! Insurance is no different mate, I was paying £500 for a modded spec c and the same now roughly for my modded jdm sti. You don't need trackers either on a some insurances.

Offcourse your right Jim. But a 450bhp plus evo 8/9 for approx £10k upwards is an interesting proposition, if only as a weekend toy. Much cheaper than trying to mod a newage scooby to such levels yourself.
ps I think "Face" is more your style!

Tony's just a member on here who loves JDM's!
But Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels will sort you out for similar prices to mine I am sure. Most companies will only want to see that a tracker is fitted but does not have to be activated (subscription paid). Some will not require a tracker at all.

My Spec C had an inactive tracker, cat 1 alarm, and with declared mods cost the same to insure as a UK STI.
My Type RA has no tracker has mods declared and costs £550 ish to insure. It's not my daily driver though.
Only an ill-informed mainstream insurance company would try to rip you off when getting cover for a JDM.

Approximately £2k premium, especially on MY05 and MY06 due to scarcity. Also with exchange rates staying where they are this gap will only get bigger. It's not just pub talk Iv been following these cars prices closely over the last few years.

I bow to your superior knowledge.......

P.s. Twin scroll Blob with just a exhaust/remap mods would give you a run for your money on a track, against the spec you have now buddy.
