I was up in November and met with Andy and Donna and also went out for a wee play in the T20 in the hills nearby.
Totally gutted when I heard the news
My heart goes out to Donna and his family.

I write this with a very heavy heart. Andy was one of my best mates and best man at my wedding. As my close friend Roj ( Hawk aye the Noo ) has said we are all in complete shock at the moment.
A nicer guy you could not meet and my heart goes out to Donna and his family.
Life won't be the same without you bud and we will never forget you.
RIP Andy

I can advise that the responses and tributes do give comfort to his loved ones in this very difficult time. Roj ( Hawk aye the noo) and I will convey them to Donna, his family, and the rest of his very good friends. I can advise you that Scoobynet and his love for everything to do with this site was expressed in his Eulogy yesterday at his funeral.
Yesterday was a very diiffcult day for all involved, but I can say they did him proud and he got the send off that an amazing guy like Andrew deserved.

That is a very heartening thing to hear. One can only imagine the anguish and sense of loss that the family is feeling. RIP Andy you will be missed.

Thanks for taking the time to let us all know, Stev. Must have been really tough for everyone yesterday. Bloody awful.

Donna has asked me to let you all know that she has been reading the messages and appreciates them so much. She knows how much Andrew loved scoobynet and would also like you guys to know the only reason that he had been quiet these last few weeks was because he'd become completely focussed on the best polishes and waxes for his Litchfield T20 and was researching them.
He would have been back with his usual chat and banter, for sure, had he not been so tragically taken away from us.

Well all of a sudden Scoobynet just feels a lot less fun that it used to be. This place has it's fair share of characters, in fact it has some really "unique" ones that you won't find anywhere else, no matter how hard you look... Andy was a true Scot... proud but humble, he never took anything to heart, never fell out with anyone and was always up for some fun.
You hear people say things about the world "being a small place" usually when they bump into their next door neighbour while holidaying in Borneo or the like! Well all I can say is that by losing Ant, Grant and Andy the world now feels a little bit bigger, and I mean that in a sad way. I have so many friends on here that I've never met, and probably never will... but when I really think about what friends really are.... I consider some of my best friends post on here!
AndytheJock, I salute you... and will miss you, but equally thank you for the banter and laughter

Ive tried to write something more substantial more than once and I keep failing.
Andy was a really pleasant and decent fellow who I genuinely liked and I am moved and upset to hear that he has died.

I too tried to write something a little more substantial but just couldn't put together something coherent, succint and fitting. I can only echo the above sentiment and those of DCI, who has encapsulated things a lot better than me. It's so true the old adage 'you don't know what you've got till it's gone'.

wow I am shocked, another name from the SNet fame passes away.
Things like this remind you of death and how lucky we are just to be alive. I thoughts are with his family, may he rest in peace (as a Muslim I sincerely believe he is in a better place).
I have been on here for a while now, in the community and I think after a while you get to recognise the names, which is why I was shocked when first came back on here to hear two minor NSF comedians had passed away.
Good or bad we are all a big crowd of the same people in here.

I still can't believe he's gone. It wasn't so long ago when we were exchanging PM's about what Hawkeye he should get. He was so chuffed with the T20 and it was one of those occasions where you saw a nice guy getting excited about buying a nice thing and thought to yourself "maybe there is such a thing as karma".
I only knew Andy on here, but he was always good-humoured, polite and gentlemanly in his conduct. I never heard a bad word about him in either my capacity on SN as a regular poster or a moderator, which is VERY, VERY rare!
Who was it that said "I wish to be judged by the enemies have made in my lifetime". Andy, by all accounts, is one of the rare people in life who won't be able to say this, because he simply didn't have any enemies.
Rest in peace, Andy. I will miss seeing you around SN and the community is definitely worse off without you.
Paul.

Andy was one of these people who never really seemed to get down. He lived his life to the absolute max and filled his life with laughter and fun. In the 25 years I knew him, he enriched my life and that of all the people closest to him. Andy was a brilliant friend an it was an honor and a privalige to have been able to call him "my mate". He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
I can only echo what Stev said about Donna and the family doing him proud at the funeral.
R.I.P Andy, where ever you are.

Very well put.
Also have to agree with Einstein RA - it's funny how we take things for granted on here. Andy was a character for sure - someone we were lucky to have on the forum - and never seemed to have a bad word to say about anyone.
Can only begin to imagine what his family and friends might be going through; but in this case I hope (and believe) they'll be able to take some comfort from celebrating his life and what he did and enjoyed in it.

I suspect it's rather difficult for the mod. team to know when to unsticky this. How would people feel about the 1st Feb or should it be left here a little longer?

People have had time to post their sentiments, read others and generally reflect on this tragic loss. There is no time limit with these things and the fact that this isn't a sticky any longer won't stop me from missing Andy.... so when ever they feel its the most appropriate time.
