Skyrim
well I am at level 50 now and have only done one main storyline quest. I have completed the Companions side story as well though. i will get to Delphine and the embassy when I can. I have a list of miscellaneous quests and missions the length of my arm now. Slowly working through them.
Detect life and detect dead are low level and you should be able to pick them up from one of the mages in Winterhold.
They are not single cast spells with a duration, instead you have to pull and hold in the right/left trigger which continuously drains your mana but lets you see any living/dead things around you - even through multiple floors/levels.
Hostiles and guards glow red. Neutrals and friendlies glow blue.
Using it also causes your alteration skill to go up quite quickly - as I was exploring towns I used to keep casting it, along with the 'muffle' spell to send my illusion skill up too. For conjuration I bought 'bound sword' and would cast it, sheathe weapon, recast etc when facing down enemies that are little threat.
Wait until you get to 100 sneak with all the perks - some enemies can come right up to you to the point where they push you along the floor and still not see you lol

I stood just looking around when I walked into that particular cave... It's not often you really do notice the background as much as I did when that vista stretched out in front of me.
Some nice fights as well

Oh, one quest series to do: Assassins guild, just do it until you get the horse... that horse is worth having. If only for the sheer "WTF!!!" factor
Crimson thingy-ma-bob place?

In fact it was at times like those I forgave the game its many annoying bugs.
Can't say my mate was so forgiving though.
He got to level 50 before deciding to do the companions quest line. On his meandering path to one of the quest caves, with the female companion in tow, he visited several cities, went in and out of many buildings, and saved over each of his save slots. By the time he got to the cave found that the game crashed every time upon trying to enter. He ended up with an indestructible companion shadowing his every move and no back-up - all the saves crashed going into the cave!
Ahh Musn't laugh really

This game is proving slightly addictive.
well **** me that was one long *** night for 1 measly level. The Staff of Magnus quest at Winterhold. They don't half make you run around. Another nice Dwemer ruin to roam around in. I am now the Arch-Mage. How good am I
A few more spells under my belt and a few new goodies plundered. That mask of Morkai is the biz. Looks really cool and 100% mana regen. win win.

I have just got to level 12!! Killed my first giant and mammoth last night - got a couple of dragons too.
Giant just stood there while I hackedhim to pieces.
Mammoth was easy once I had worked out a strategy. I stood on the opposite side of the giants fire and the mammoth just there whilst I plugged it with a score of arrows.
Need to get on so I can understand a fraction of what you lot are talking about

Sensible. Unlike me who thought he could take one on with a waraxe. Wrong. Pretty predictable outcome.

Just got to the city where you can get your speach to 100. Completed a couple of quests there and then went out of the city.
Within a few minutes a dragon came from nowhere and picked my character up by his head! So much for getting to the people who summoned me after killing the first dragon...
Hopefully when I do get there I can learn what to do with the dragon scales etc.

heavy armour for a heavy guy. i haven't even considered dragon scale yet. maybe when i do the thieves guild quest line i will try it. good for sneaking i suppose?
However - I then left the armour set on a dummy and am using the Ancient Assassins armour as it looks so damn good and the shoes have muffle enchanted on them
Dragon Scale is good though (and looks good too) plus you get scripted praise from the guards as you past with it.
(I did do ALL the Smithing perks so I could make a daedric bow - most powerful bow in the game)
Still early days for me - but had a very productive hour and a half with mudcrabs and a mad bandit with a hammer.
Up three levels; up over 20 on blocking from 20to 40
I have some enchanted mace that looks pretty low in terms of damage but it just kills everything. Even a bear only needed three or four hits and it was down. Makes all my enemies glow in the dark when I hit them.

Maybe it's because they were forged or improved at different times with different skill levels/buffs etc but my dragon stuff is better than the daedric of the same type (improved to legendary).
The Wiki entry is wrong as well then - as it states that fully upgraded dragonplate is better than daedric.
I enchanted mine with Fire and Ice damage - that tends to stop any immunities spoiling the party
Have you gone back in time with all the masks yet btw? I keep meaning to do that but haven't yet.
