Some of these problems are prone to all BMW's though?

Which is why I very reluctantly decided to avoid them and go with Mercedes. Their newer models appear to be vastly improved.

Can't say i've been much of a fan of Mercedes, but the newest C-Class sport saloons are very smart.

Keep hearing stories of Merc reliability, though yes that's probably not the latest versions.

They were pretty poor early 2000 - 2005 or so but they have pulled their socks up. Saying that the B class I have feels nowhere near as well built as my Hawkeye did. Its beautifully done up inside with many creature comforts and high quality materials but far to many rattles and clonks for a £27,000 car (with all the extras) with only 27,000miles whereas the Subaru was basic but felt solid.

Personally I don't think I'd ever buy a diesel again, and I've probably got the best diesel engine in production at the moment

But you can afford to run hefty big petrol engines Ding! Besides, it sounds like a slight stiffen of the suspension and more steering feel would change the new 5?

I may have been tempted by the newest C-class sport if they were as you say SRS, but I doubt I could afford one ATM and the B-class looks too small for us too.

The B class is strange. It looks small but has similar leg and boot space as the E class estate. When I was looking for another car for the wife I didnt give these a second thought until I saw the specs. It reminds me of one of those tents in Harry Potter. It looks small and then when you get in it the thing opens up into something far bigger.

Apart from non-engine related things I'm surprised to here that Deep. What don't you like about the engine? I would have hoped the 35d engine would make up for losing the V10 in many respects?

Should I get a diesel ? Ive done 24k in the past year in my subaru, and still cant get enough of driving it.

Lack of aural stimulation and limited rev range. I should qualify my previous statement by saying the engine would be great in a pure load lugger/ work horse/ 4x4 etc but no good for someone who enjoys driving.

It in no way makes up for the v10 and am counting the days until I get myself back into a high powered petrol engined.

I'll have a look at Merc, but I'm sure I'll stick to a BM.

Maybe the 40d engine is better suited to the F10...

What do you mean by the 40d engine mate? If it's the engine from the 740d then I'm pretty sure it's near on identical to the 35d

Seems to more or less have settled down. Not sure what that was all about to be honest. It may well have been the somewhat wafty soft ride rather than it being a diesel.

In the past i have gone to diesels and a few weeks of ownership regretted it. There,s no driving pleasure for me tbh. Having said that i had the use of a 123d for a while which wasn,t too bad. One thing putting me off a diesel at the moment is the expensive filters. Is this as big a problem as some people say?
