Crypt, did yours have any other symptoms such as blowing smoke when cold or hot?

 

I had my engine go after a high speed run. But unlike all the others it is the bearing on the number 1 conrod that has gone. The conrod is now so loose on the crank that you can rattle it about by hand

Has anyone else had this sympton?

The UK spec car had 72000 miles and had never been thrashed before while in my custody (20 000 miles).

Nope, never noticed any smoke just a little piston slap when i rev'd. The car just didnt feel right for weeks beforehand hence the service, new coil packs, plugs etc etc..
