Bit to go yet to beat the record, gusts in excess of 173 mph at sea level (not on the top of a mountain...)

Remember it well and it was scary...

Try being on an FPSO (Floating production storage and offload) basically a tanker converted for production anchored in the same place by massive chains.

20m heave is always fun especially when you get thrown out of the top bunk and break the screen of your telly with your head.

Thankfully I am still at home till Tue

Weather is a bit mad here a few trees down.

Christmas dinner tonight at my folks due to working christmas

What are the waves like at the mo? Everything still intact I take it?

Platforms swaying and juddering like a pi$$head walking home from the pub after a full on bender.

These things tend to move a fair bit in bad weather, we almost lost our Satellite(SP?) dish last week during the last high winds, wind ripped the bolts which holds the dish in place clean out of the deck.

Another thing that can be quite hairy is the chopper ride home, we've had two choppers here today but they aren't flying anymore now, think they have all been grounded for the time being.

The wind is horrendous here. Outskirts of Newcastle. I live on an old farm, down by the river, so no shelter from other properties. I'm amazed I still have a fence
Driving on the A19 yesterday was awful too. I was behind a high sided lorry, which was weaving all over the place. I left a very large gap between him and me
Of course the proverbial a$$hole was sitting on my tail

I flew back from US this morning and we had 150mph tail winds all the way - I've never been on such a short transatlantic flight. Didn't get a discount for all the fuel they must have saved though.

Scottish warned not to travel, is this due to the weather or the Scottish ?

Ever seen Scots on a train, all Tennents Super and "See you", might make a good film.

Only Joking Sweaty Socks, love you really !

I left Glasgow at 14:45 today and drove down to Sheffield and TBH it was not as bad as the media have made out and I’m not dead. Yes it was a bit blowy and driving needed to be adjusted accordingly.

The only stretch that was a little hairy was the M74 J11 to J14. Here the winds were at their strongest and there was around 2” of snow on all three lanes and there was a blizzard so visibility was very poor. All that was required was a massive reduction in speed until the weather cleared, after Moffat the weather was fine, even the A66 was fine.

All in all a bit of an overreaction if you ask me, although on the plus side there was no traffic.

Still laughing at some of the #hurricanebawbag tweets

One post read: “Hurricane Bawbag Update: A plant pot has fallen over in Airdrie. An eye witness retold the horror: ‘It pure went sideways’.”

Colleague came back from Washington last weekend. 5.5 hours. Pilot told the passengers to take a photo of the speed readout on the 777 he was on. 720mph Only rated to around 550!!

Some tailwind! No hot drinks or food served due to how bumpy it was!!

Just found this on Facebook, this is a Norwegian platform not too far from us.

Just to put things into perspective a platforms deck is around 100ft above sea level.
