Looks good...

Martin has managed to retain the inner wings unlike the car above...well, self fabricated inner wings, and didnt want to go down the Top mount route so has managed to get a FMIC to fit!! The only way it would fit is on top of the Rad. He bought a FMIC and a mate cut of the end tanks and re-welded them on the front for the shortest route possible....With the reverse inlet and rotated turbo, he has a achieved what he wanted.....a very short pipe run.

Ive just been round there, at present he is test fitting the Subaru wiring loom.

Here are a few pics, including the rear axle, rad/intercooler install and firewall.

The thing to take into consideration with this project is, its being built where you see it....outside on the drive!

Ive just noticed the white Mk1 is built on a Subaru chassis, not quite the same as Martin has done with this project...

Yours is a nice car fella and good luck with your new project..

I popped round last Saturday, progress has been rather slow due to him getting a property of his ready for rental....but it has moved on slightly.

The loom is almost complete and the alloy tank has been fitted in the boot complete with an integrated swirl pot. When i arrived he was bolting on the second head to the engine he has just rebuilt using...ACL race bearings, Manley rods, stock STI8 pistons in a Semi closed deck block with V4 Type R heads and his own fabricated baffled sump. The goal is a reliable 400bhp.

There is still a hell of a lot if work left in this project...

I popped round earlier and took a quick photo. The engine and box are in at present complete with the modified headers and his own rotated setup whilst things are worked around them. Obviously all will be removed again for paint.

He did mention about maybe having it mapped with the VF28 instead of the SC46 when its up and running to which I called him a *****!

that looks pretty damn good, next time if you can get a pic straight above the engine so i can see how much room there is around the engine, my issue with the mk1 was not enough room at the front for a rad ill be copying this to a T on the mk2 if he doesnt mind lol, looks very good at the mo though, keep em coming

Here is a couple of photos of the clearance on both sides, about an inch. One thing to take into consideration is that the inner wings are not original. He made his own along with front chassis leg mods to get the engine to fit, the Escort engine bay isn't wide enough in stock form to take the Subaru engine.

i see what you mean on the earlier pics about the inner wings and front chassis, it seams a shame to do it to my mk2 shell, as it solid, but it has to be done so i must grit my teeth, thanks very much for the pics, and keep em comin.

Hey Mike...

Yes it has come on, I was round Martins last Saturday but didn't have my phone to take photos.

It has come on yes, Martin has painted it himself for the time being to stop it rusting... Still a bit to do but not far off running, wiring to sort and a prop needs making.....Will be an interesting car for sure, if you consider a MK1 RS200 is roughly 900kgs and the fact this car is stripped and has firbeglass bonnet, doors, front wings, boot and polycarb windows all round it should be lively with the SC46 nailed to it.......!!

It will be a handful trying to keep in a straight line

Not entirely finished but running and MOT'd. Its had some paint flicked on it to stop it rusting. It will be all stripped back out for a proper paint job some time later in the year.
