Next and final step is the interior, and i will add some sound deadening in the doors. Im also thinking about Brembo STI front brakes if i can find some for good money.

Teh underside..

The tow hook thingy, i know its the wrong word but i cant remember what its called... This car will tow many caravans... or maybe not.

Thanks alot guys! =)

Some more pictures after my friend polished and put paint protection/coating on the car, and glass and plastic coating. He used Carpro CQuartz paint protection: http://www.autogeek.net/cquartz-paint-sealant.html
And Gtechniq G4 on the glass, Gtechniq C4 on the plastic and Gtechniq C5 on the wheels. Plus Carpro Reload waxspray afterwards.

It also passed our "MOT" test without a fault! =)

I did some runs on the slalom track this weekend, the difference in stability and balance compared to last year is INCREDIBLE! Its so nice and easy to drive now, with very good grip front and very controllable oversteer! The Whiteline anti lift kit made a HUGE difference to sort out the understeering when accelerating, the ALK must be the most bang for the buck you can buy!

The fastest time, 3rd lap on the 4th run:

The whole 4th run:

The whole 3rd run:

The whole 1st run (WET!):

The brakes and tires was the weak spot of the car for this kind of driving, i run on road tires and all the other guys that drive there use R compound tires.

Well i wanted to get Brembos in the front but after looking at ebay for a while ive realised that most of them are expensive and in poor condition, so i will use my front calipers and discs from my Impreza instead. =) Ive striped the paint off and wirebrushed the surface rost off them, i will put both 2 component epoxy primer and 2 component black paint on them. The pistons are not siezed so no need to get them rebuild. =)

However i dont really know what pads go get, either EBC Bluestuff NDX, that got so much possitive response when they arrived, or the new Orangestuff? The cas is driven quite hard on the road so i want something i can trust and can withstand some track days as well.

Great car & dedication

Im not too impressed with EBC Blue NDX, been using for 1 year on street and one track day. IMO better off with Performance Friction Z or PF01, DS2500 or the new fancy Brembo pads. (cant recall their name)

Brembo HP sports - just ordered a full set for my Brembos

Great work in getting that car looking as clean as it is - seeing jobs like this almost inspires me to get under my car and get it looking that clean

Yeah its km/h, it would have been awesome if it was mph though!

60mph = 96km/h
100mph = 161km/h

Since my last post i have stripped the 1st gear on the old gearbox so now i have a MY00 Impreza Turbo TY754-box fitted to the car, also alloy STI wishbones and some other things here and there... Oh and STi Brembo brakes front and rear...

I also had to modify the front fenderarches to clear the tires when driving hard.

I also found a very good condition Legacy 2.2GX that will get a Impreza Turbo engine with IHI VF34 etc, and Impreza STi Type R DCCD drivetrain...

I have started to strip it, it will be built to a high standard and painted inside and under in the cars color, all underseal will ofcourse be scraped off.

No bad rust at all on the shell, the drivers side door (left hand) will be changed due to rust.

I want to replicate the group a Legacy RS's that Prodrive built and run in the early 90s, so the cage will be identical design in mine, and i think i will seamweld it.

How i want it to look when its finished..

Yeah, i would love to convert the 2.2 to the S1 pre-facelift bodystyle, but that meens changing hood, fenders, bumpers front and rear, lights, boot and modify the whole body behind the rear lights to make the old stuff fit. But the biggest problem of all is to get ahold of all the parts, ive been looking at ebay both in australia, US an UK but there are pretty much no parts at all for sale. I dont know if you can still order them new from Subaru but i bet if you can they will cost about as much as a whole car all together...

So i think i will have to stick with the S2 facelift, but i will ofcourse change to the turbo hood and front bumper, and also get a turbo rear wing for it (even though the rallycars didnt have a wing.. )

What's with you and old Legacys Oskar?!

I'm just pissed jealous because you have my dream project.

I've always loved the Legacy RS and doing a Group A Legacy replica is just what i wish i could do. From the work of your previous Legacy project, I bet this is going to be an even more amazing project! Please keep the updates coming!

Regards
Errol

Thanks guys! Very nice to see that people like it! My workmates call it a Corolla with a VW Beetle engine and think its crap... :P

I will not start seriously with the white Legacy for quite a long time, i have a Impreza that must be completed before i can really start the group a replica project. i have just started to strip the car, most of the interior is out and most of the sound deadening inside is scraped away. But i will for sure keep the thread updated with how its going.
