Some of the ones you see thse days would have had their photo in the papers as a curiosity in earlier times!

Definitely more processed crap Andy. When one looks deeper in to consumption and consumerism you see the beast that is food production. It is a profit orientated quantitive focused giant. In the 1930s around 7 million chickens were consumed annually in the US, today that figure has burgeoned to around 25 million DAILY!
Like everything else when things increase in quantitive measure there is a decrease in qualitative measure. We have meats packed with water and the industry favourite corn. Forget your idyllic portly farmer with rosy cheeks and acres of grazing pasture. The reality is somewhat different.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is no such thing as a 'diet' to control weight/health. It needs to be a way of life not a short term fix. All these fad diets that are abound are just a con! FFS the world needs to wake up. Until evolution renders fatty/sugary foods tasteless we need to minimise them. Remember there is no such thing as a 'bad' food just bad diets where we consume too much of certain foods.
A simple mantra would be 'eat less do more'.
suppose just a differnet take on the same thing lol,

agree diet is life long if you want to control weight/bodyfat levels.

but it varies greatly from person to person/ and changes throughout each individuals lifetime

the problem with diets is that they end.

there seen a s a "x week" cycle and then come off? that just causes weight to yo-yo, and eventually gain more fat.
portion reducing diets, unless very protein rich will reduce bodyfat AND muscle tissue - and muscle is the metabolic factory for burning calories,
thus the less muscle you have the less calories you need to maintain it. so you end up eating same kcals as before but gain fat.
fad diets/atkins ect, any low carb get fast results as they make you loose water initially - so people get happy with results. 1g carb = 4g water.
but its unsustainable for the vast majority.
but carbs stimulate metabolic rate, and protein only diets cause reduction in resting metabolic rate. its a common tactic used in dieting.

until people actually learn what they are eating instead of being fed bull by for profit organisations, then sadly it will carry on the trend of obese kids, who are expected to be the first generation to die before there parents

not good imo
