I was never charged any extra when I didn't have a phone line. Nor was I told it should be plugged in. Never mind.

Waiting for the full VM announcement. I get the HD channels, but not Sky sports (free ESPN but I don't watch it anyway). If they want an extra £10 they can do one.

I am not too sure as to whether the average License payer should be paying for F1.
It is basically putting money in to Bernie's pocket for a what is a marketing exercise aimed at the young male demographic.
Why get the BBC to do this when ITV or Sky are able to obtain revenue from it?
Personally, I like watching F1 on BBC for free with no adverts etc, but this seems a bit of an anachronistic throwback.
If you want to give money to Bernie - give him your own money is my message.

£10 a month is bad enough, but Steve Ryder - please, personally I feel that since it went back to the beeb after the ITV years its had a new fresh injection of youth and overally increased in delivering as a package - will be surprised if its anything near the beeb product.

All down to market forces as ever and the evil little squirt will play that to the fullest extent.

We shall have to see how it pans out of course.

Sky doing great things with the new product eh?

Poached BBC's commentator and ITV 'motor-sports' front man.

What next, Murray as co-commentator?

Guys, I'm a Specialist engineer for Sky and been with the company for 6 years now. Any Sky related questions, please PM me because 90% of what people has stated on this thread is wrong! Just to clear one thing up, the channel is available 7 days a week, *24/7! They will show races from a massive archive, have documentaries and interviews from different race teams and show all practice and qualifiers as well as live races!

After leaving the Marines I did a 8 week in-house course with Sky which made me a digital accredited engineer and got a city and guilds digital comunications and another in H&S, also I'm industrial Roped/Rope access trained by IRATA and just finished a uni course in AV and networking, I suspect a hint of sarcasm, save that for our sub contractors!*

AVC by any chance? i did work for das but they're ***** to work for. I was a commercial installer doing SMATV and FSD Installs and Sat Broadband, FibreOptic installs, video over cat5

So you could say some subbies have a lot of more knowledge then some of the sky lads because they know how to point it to 28.2*

*Not aimed at you

So, what is the minimum needed to get the F1 channel? Sky HD or or Sky Sports? I only ask as even Sky themselves seem a bit confused on this one!

Funny you should say that!

Actually I think they could do a lot worse. I have fond memories of Murray Walker commentating.

I am sorry that Jake, who has become a very good presenter, and EJ and DC will not be there. Thank goodness Martin Brundle will still be there though.

Because I don't want 101 questions from all the haters and anti Sky brigade but more than happy to answer genuine questions from Sky customers!

I know that most of the Qs raised have already been correctly answered on here, but just to put any residual confusion to bed, this is from Sky's weekly newsletter email:-

In March 2012, we're launching Sky Sports F1™ to bring you all the action like never before. We will take you under the skin of the sport with a depth of coverage previously unseen. And best of all, as a Sky HD or Sky Sports 1&2 customer, you'll receive this new, dedicated channel for free. You'll be able to enjoy:

- All next season's races live, uninterrupted and available in HD
- Every practise session live
- Behind the scenes news and coverage
- Expert Formula 1™ presentation team led by Martin Brundle

And so you don't miss any of the action, Sky Sports F1™ will also be available to watch on your laptop, mobile and iPad with Sky Go.

What would you do in their position?

They also say that they will put a great deal more into the programme cover a lot more than was ever done before and that there will be no interruptions.

It will be interesting to see how it all turns out anyway.

Still, you can always cobble up a few more insinuations if you work at it.
