My nearest garage is about a mile away by the time i get it there the ticking has gone. I would have to drop the car off for say 3 to 4 hours before the tapping returned at a cold start. you can only here it at light load and it doesnt go through all the rev range car pulls fine still really fast. i have been for big drives in it giving it some and no change to the noise. it doent seem to be getting any worse fingers crossed.
So that vid wasn't your car then, prob a good thing. If the car is performing ok and the noise settles down then you may be ok, just monitor it I suppose.

Fingers crossed!

Well it doesn't bother me as much any more. it seems to be getting better or going away quicker from a cold start. swear it might be because of the oil being full right up. Waiting for the oil level to drop down to see if it goes away. if not im going to try a thicker oil 10w 40. But performance wise the cars great, seems spot on nothing wrong at all. its at the point noise wize now that if i have a mate get in the car with me. on a cold start they don't even notice the noise.

well one thing for sure its not pistonslap if thats why your posting here m8. I am no expert but sounds like a belt has slipped and the teeth are knocking as the belt is slipping. From one scooby driver to another don't drive it bud till its looked at. the last thing u want is a screwed engine from something that was a easy fix.

find all the belts and look to see they are all still tight? use a screw driver if u don't know to pin point the noise. if its in the top of the engine the head well it must pretty bad. most mechcanics could look at a engine running and tell u straight away if the heads screwed.

I was thinking it could be that, but something tells me it a sticking valve or something. I will check this for peace of mind. Thanks

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm gonna check the belt, if fine will send the heads back to machine shop to get sorted as I feel slightly down on power also. Thanks

It could also be an exhaust blow? Just throwing it out there because it's really hard to tell exactly where the noise is coming from.

Does the turbo take longer to spool up?

Wow! Yes it does take a bit more rev for it to kick imams I've had to adjust my Greddy Profec spec II boost controller up a few notches to get 0.94bar, where i was getting 1.4bar at my previous settings before rebuild and exhaust blowing. My whole exhaust needs changing also I've been told. It's currently got a big whole near the end section and I think the is a leak after the down pipe as I get fumed out.

Are you saying this is the cause for the tapping or lose of power? I know it would effect power, but stupidly never considered it.

Would a tappet noise go away once the car was warmed up. The car tapps intill warm after being parked all night but on a hill nose pointing down it seemed to go away straight away.
