have you tried a different filter? I use a filtered plate from adsl nation. I must admit I use cat5e cable for my phone line from where the bt wires reach my house. I had a new build and internal wiring war crap but impossible to rectify without lifting floors etc. My solution was to use cat 5e cable from outside the house (connected to bt wires - not strictly legal ) and run the network cable up alongside a sky + cable to upstairs and I made that my master socket (with the filtered faceplate)

With this site it says maybe 6 to 7 ( it gets mine fairly accurate)

If you have the nte5 front plate as the main unscew and pull off the extn plate and connect into the socket revealed underneath then do a speed test to prove int wiring is ok
