hi mate....just reading the thread on SC, are they not planning on starting the convoy at 7pm not 7.30?

 

Cheers mate thanks for letting us know. One less for the "shepherd" to worry about.

They start forming it up around 7pm but it usualy takes a good 20 minutes or more to get everything in place so ends up nearer 7.30pm before they leave. The main organiser knows we are coming & have a bit of a way to come. One year the convoy had to wait for a certain Interceptor unit to turn up that had been held up for operational reasons.

2. When we start forming the convoy at approximately 7pm, please be ready and waiting in your cars, but DO NOT move out of your parking space until directed to do so by a uniformed officer. Drive around the bottom of the car park in a loop and join the convoy where directed - this will avoid any bottlenecks along the front of the store.

 

ah i see, cool stuff. Im going from colchester around 5pm so may see you guys en route!

Important info for children in need night - please all read!!

Can you all please read the following information, as it gives you VERY important information regarding how the night runs. As long as you follow the following, we'll all have a fun, enjoyable, succesful and SAFE night!

1. Please aim to arrive at Makro from 6.30pm onwards, and park at the bottom of the car park, away from the store entrance. Hand your entrance money - £5 per car and any other funds you've raised, to one of the team members brandishing a bucket! Mike (Herebyaccident) will have some adhesive vinyl event stickers available for purchase once again at £5 each, so please adorn your car with as many as you like to show you're part of the convoy and what we're all doing.

2. When we start forming the convoy at approximately 7pm, please be ready and waiting in your cars, but DO NOT move out of your parking space until directed to do so by a uniformed officer. Drive around the bottom of the car park in a loop and join the convoy where directed - this will avoid any bottlenecks along the front of the store.

3. Have your lights on, but NO foglights or hazard lights.

4. Keep the gap to the car in front to a minimum to ensure the convoy stays together without interruption from members of the public, but leave enough space to brake safely - speeds will be low, but we don't want any shunts!

5. Uniformed officers will be closing off junctions, roundabouts etc to enable us to pass through uninterrupted - this INCLUDES going through red lights when directed to do so. Only stop to avoid causing an accident, or if directed to do so by a uniformed officer.

6. When we halt for the regroups on Lower Clarence Road and Castle Hill, DO NOT leave your vehicles.

7. When we reach Gentlemans Walk, please park to the side of the road where directed by a uniformed officer in a herringbone (that is angled) pattern. This is a pedestrianised area, so please drive down Gentlemans Walk at walking pace.

8. Anyone wishing to eat at our final destination, The Village Inn, Little Melton (where we have our monthly meets), will need to be at the pub NO LATER than 9pm. We will no longer be escorted by the Police when we leave Gentlemans Walk, so remember to STOP at red lights, junctions etc - we will have to obey the laws of the road once again! You are free to leave Gentlemans Walk at your leisure, but leave enough time to get to the pub for your hard-earned dinner! The pub have set aside their function room for our exclusive use and there will be a CIN auction being held as well.

9. Lastly...........have fun, enjoy the night, and remember to raise as much money as you can!

Im joining the A12 at stanway/tollgate around 5pm, will drive slowish so hoping i might see u lot on the way - Ill be in a silver 03 blob wrx with a black STi spoiler, black mudflaps, angled exhaust etc....ill be on the look out, will give a flash if i spot u!

Only just made it to macro at 7:15(had a great night with lots of noise and was behind a scooby with a really weird/funny horn. Kept making people jump) top night had only just got in

Well done guys. What a great night you made of it. We had a record 96 cars in attendance

We collected just on the night, either by entry donations, money for the stickers done by herebyaccident (sterling effort by the way Mike), the auction at the pub, and whatever else we managed to collect on the way, and so far, the total stands at a superb


£1,526.06!!!!!!!!!

We've got much more to come though, as we only got through about half the stuff to auction last night, so we'll be sticking up the other bits and pieces over the next couple of days. Links to stuff so far here & closing date is 9pm Friday 25th November :-
