I'm getting around 350 per fill up, would prob get 400 but don't want to be sucking up the dregs so I fill up just before the light comes on. I'm using 97 octane as I get better mpg than with 95. Found myself stuck behind a lorry on the m6 yesterday and stayed behind it for about 30miles, was boring as hell but without the extra wind resistance I did 30miles without the needle moving.
To all these ppl with the view that you shouldn't have a subaru if you moan about petrol I find you ppl highly annoying. Like ppl have said in this thread, we have all saved up for our dream cars knowing they are expensive to run. There are two types of drivers, those that just want to get from a to b and those that love their cars. Not one of us on here are the a to b type, if we were we'd all be on the Nissan micra forum (if one exists ha). With the economy so bad and petrol prices so high why shouldn't we discuss our running costs?

i experimented over a coupla weeks with filling the car till the fuel pump clicks off then doing normal school run and commuting type stuff and let it get to about half empty before fueling again in the same manner.
I did all the economy driving things, didnt let the engine labour in gears, didnt coast in neutral up to hazards, no air con, windows shut, going at speeds where heavy breaking wasnt needed etc
Im managing between 26 and 28 mpg on an sti5 wagon mapped for v power by andy forest with a green panel, walbro fuel pump ngk prf7s an H&S centre section and a mongoose back box.
I reasoned that the car was alot more economical than i thought
And I was very bored!!
Stage two of the experiment starts this week. Im off for a fortnight so its time to stretch scoobies legs!!

I get around 200 to a full tank more if I use motorways etc. Was pretty much the same when I had the Skyline.... my BMW was around 300-320 to a full tank... BUT as much as i loved my 'Beemer' the Skyline & Impreza give you so much more smiles per miles!

Did a trip from Ipswich to Ramsey recently. Late night run 86 miles up the A14 at "high motorway speeds" and returned 27mpg (brimmed the tank both ends). Surprised as I usually only get 22 to 24 mpg. Monitor the mpg now and again just to reassure myself that all is well. Don't give a stuff about the cost and always found that any attempt at economical driving made bog all difference except I got bored.

im averaging 28-30 mpg in my sport auto...as been said before yeah they arnt great on fuel but the smiles outway that 
..and i too agree the fuel gauges aint the best out there

I have owned various newage sti's and they all roughly did 200 miles to a full tank, in all kinds of driving conditions. Even my 350bhp jdm did 200 miles to a full tank!

The only way the OP will know for sure is by doing a complete tank fill, reset trip and then fill again when empty noting the distance travelled. Mileage/litres to fill x 4.545.
That will give you your actual mpg. Why people buy a scoob and keep sticking £20 notes in rather than just filling it up perplexes me!
Just fill the f&cker up and be done with it.
The fuel gauge in every Impreza I have owned never moved for the first 50 miles and then fell like a lead balloon.
As Ali said, it is to do with the shape of the tank.
That will give you your actual mpg. Why people buy a scoob and keep sticking £20 notes in rather than just filling it up perplexes me!

mine used to do the same, full to 3/4 returned over 90 miles, then the remaining 3/4's only gave me 80 ish miles... have recently changed the fuel pump, since then the thing does 50 first qtr 50 2nd qtr 40 3rd qtr and 30 last qtr... very strange................

It's worth saying my 99wagon is standard and I usually stay around 65/70 on the motorway and draft behind trucks when I can. Unless I'm having a bit of fun I always change around 2000/2500 rpm and use 97 Oct fuel, all of which helps me get an average of 31mpg. It makes for a slightly boring ride on long journeys but if I don't do this I'd have to sell up ha.
