Best Coffee machine for your money?
Finally gave in and got a pod machine for Xmas - Nespresso with the milk frother, brilliant for good lazy clean free coffee. Loads of flavour options but TBH most of them are too weak for me - blacks or purples are my favourites, I believe there are stronger ones too. top tip don't go for the cheaper 'Nespresso compatible' pods - I did once, the ones I got were plastic and IMO you can taste the plastic... I would go for a pod system that uses foil packaging
You got the first part right, I tend to have a Costa cappuccino at Stansted when I fly out here, the only way I can drink it is with about 4 sugars and some chocolate on top.
and I've never managed to finish one.
Hence the
at Swati saying it was drinkable.

For the money this, the stove pots are a pita to get right
But if you want to spend a bit than a mate just ditched his gaggia bean to cup for this and loves it.

I don't like chocolate powder on top, though. I can't see any point in that. Like an anti-placebo, that actually kills my coffee.

Supposed to be pretty good Rob, I use Nespresso and so always lust after a proper bean to cup one... church have the Jura one which is pretty cool.
My only advice is anything like this requires cleaning and faffing something you don't really have to do with the tassimo/Nespresso and dolce ones... but proper beans mmmmmm lovely, I spotted that offer too but wife told me no LOL....

Cheers Ted,
I've watched the YouTube clips and read the reviews and it does seem they use quite a bit of water through prime and cleaning, still tempted though.
I'll see what happens with the offers tomorrow (cyber Monday), you never know they knock a few more quid of the offer or extend the warrantee making it more attractive.
FWIW i like my Tassimo for ease, and coffee is better than any standard powder crap, but it just doesn't beat a proper ground coffee as you were saying.
I'd looked at those Jura's, they are probably one of the better ones but come at a premium price, I don't think I can justify a grand whilst we are living in a half finished house

Buy those bodum double wall glasses for an extra tenner - my bro bought me those for Christmas last year, they are a really nice thing to enjoy your coffee from.
I've got one of these Rob: ESAM4200

Been going 5 years now, aside from the quarterly descale, the only maintanance has been to replace the silicone o rings (circa £8.00)

At that price get it bought! I have their perfecta bean to cup machine which I paid £750 for a year ago, and while it felt expensive at the time, it was absolutely worth every penny. Bottom line is everything in their range is just really good, you pay a premium for whistles and bells.
